It was  rather chilly in the small bedroom that belonged to Katie White. Scattering the white walls were posters, records, and photos... and sitting on the floor next to her dresser, Katie quickly threw in bunches of outfits that would hopefully last the summer.

She couldn't wait to get out of her small home in Pennsylvania. It's been torturous to be there since her mother passed away a few months ago. Everywhere she looked, something reminded her of the night that changed her life forever.

"Katie, you should get going soon." Her father called from the kitchen, which was right down the hall. "Traffics going to be bad, and that bus won't be waiting for anyone."

Katie let out a groan, zipping her bag shut and putting her headphones over her ears.

She wasn't exactly sure how her arrival to cousins beach would go. It's been a while since she spoke to the Fishers or the Conklins, ghosting them and everyone around her after her mothers death.

"Katie!" Her father shouted.

"Alright!" She shouted back, putting her duffel bag over her shoulder and taking one last glance in the mirror.

Her blonde hair was in its natural curls, a baby blue hoodie and black denim shorts doing their best to keep her warm.

She glanced at her father, seeing he was already surrounding himself in glass bottles of Bud Light. "Bye." She mumbled, continuing out the door.

The window of the bus was cold against Katie's head, but progressively grew hotter as it traveled in the direction of cousins beach.

It was weird, this is the first year she's had to take the bus to cousins.

The blonde became nervous as the bus came to a long awaited stop, along with the sight of a bright red beep wrangler in the near distance.

"Cousins beach!" The bus driver shouted, a small handful of people standing up and getting off the bus.

Hesitantly, Katie grabbed her duffle bag and stepped off the bus. She immediately rolled up the hot sleeves of her hoodie as the sun shone right onto her.

"Katie!" Jeremiah smiled, running over to her and grabbing her in a hug. "My god, i am glad to see you."

Katie ignored her guilt and took advantage of the hug, happily squeezing him back. "Jere you- are those muscles?!"

Jeremiah grinned. "You noticed, thank god." He said, "Belly didn't seem to care, and Steven and Conrad are definitely jealous."

A small smile formed on Katie's face as the two separated, her reaching down for the duffle.

"Nope." Jeremiah said, grabbing it and booking it towards his jeep.

She watched as Jeremiah ran, admiring his new but familiar features. His hair had its natural blonde highlights, his eyes bright blue in the light. maybe it was because there hasn't been any real human interaction with her for a while, but she missed him.

The two sat in the jeep, blasting the familiar summer playlist they created when they were first able to access a Spotify account. The songs in the playlist were from all different decades, ranging from the 90's to current time.
