"good morning Katie!" susannah said cheerfully, barging into katies bedroom bright and early with a mug filled with coffee.

Katie jumped up, looking around frantically. "am I late?" she asked.

today was the big day, the day where she would officially be done with all of the deb ball nonsense. if it wasn't for susannah big vision for her and belly, the two girls would've dropped out ages ago. well, at least Katie would, belly seemed to be enjoying it.

susannah laughed at katies reaction. "belly said that same thing." she said, handing the girl the mug, "are you ready for your big day?"

Katie sighed, sipping the warm drink. "I guess so." she said, not very enthusiastically.

"oh come on Katie, the ball is fun!" susannah said, "the big dresses, the dancing, the boys."

"susannah!" Katie laughed, realizing susannah was talking about Jeremiah.

Katie couldn't lie, she was excited to see Jeremiah in something that required a shirt. all summer long, he hardly ever had a shirt on. she was also excited for Jeremiah to be in a suit, that's something she's never seen.

"what if I trip and fall on my face. the debs hate me enough, they would do anything to ruin it for me."

susannah lightly smiled, rubbing katies back. "just hold onto Jeremiahs arm, he'd never let you fall." she said, knowing her son better than anyone. "and those debs don't hate your, Katie. they're jealous that Jeremiah turned them down. he was waiting for you to ask him, and he wanted to be sure that he was available."

Katie smiled.

"I still can't believe you got him to go with you. he swore up and down that he'd never go to one of these things." susannah laughed, "but here we are. he'd do anything for you, Katie. they both would."

Katie giggled. "oh trust me, I know."

susannah raised an eyebrow, seeing the look on katies face. "what'd they do?" she asked, knowing something had to've happened for her to look like that.

"beat up a couple of kids who were bothering me." Katie said, sipping her coffee again. "the night of the bonfire. the kids deserved it."

"ok, look. when they take your photographs, remember to saw 'prune'. it makes your cheekbones look divine." susannah said, "just a trick I learned from the Olsen twins."

Katie furrowed her eyebrows. "who are they?"

susannah gasped. "you don't know the Olsen twins? they're moguls. they're fashion icons. they owned the early 2000's" she began, seeing Katie was still clueless. "they're sisters with the scarlet witch."

that's what helped Katie. "scarlet witch, ok I've got it." she laughed, "my girl Wanda Maximoff."

the two girls laughed.

"ok, meet me downstairs!" susannah said, hopping off of katies bed and walking out.

sitting in the kitchen, Katie smiled watching Conrad walk in with a bunch of muffins from the bakery. "life. saver." Katie said.

Conrad laughed. "yeah, well I figured you'd need a pick me up after last night." he said, sliding over the box where hers would be. "and don't worry, you won't be seeing any more of Nicole after today."

"you girls should get going." susannah said, holding the girls dresses. "and nobody is to go in the family room, your portraits are in there so we will do a big reveal later."

laurel smiled, tossing the keys to her car to belly. "what do you say about driving yourself there?"

belly smiled widely. "really?! you mean it?!" she asked, "yes!"
