Chapter 9 - Brigitte
My brown hair had been blown all around; I tried to fix it a little but I really didn't care. Last time I was here was two weeks ago; two beautiful but short weeks. Don't get me wrong, I'm more than happy to go to one of the best schools ever but there are just a few things I wish I could change. One, Sophie. She's your average Ms. Popular and believes she runs this school. Two, my once best friend is now boyfriend to Ms. Popular herself. Chase and I are just friends now who hardly see each others. And three, my father is headmaster, who also happened to be Sophie's and Jamie's godfather.
Their father and mine our best friends who grow up and went to this school together. We all use to play together in the summers when we were kids for three weeks; our families would stay at my family’s summer house. We still spend three weeks in the summer at our summer house, but we don't talk or hang out. I usually have a friend with me and hardly see Sophie or Jamie. Witch is totally fine with me.
"Brigitte." I heard Chase's voice from behind me.
I was so close of turning around but the one time I needed him two weeks ago he wasn't around. So, I kept walking. Because really it was either facing him or my father, nether I want to see or deal with.
"Brigitte!" Ms. Maven said.
"Hey, Ms. Maven."
"You're father is waiting for you."
"Yea' I know." I said heading to the door knocking softly.
"Come in." He voice sounded from the other side.
Pushing the door open I look at my father, his square like head was topped off with salt and paper like hair, with blue smoky eyes. But I still won’t look him in the eyes. Two weeks ago I overheard his phone calls.
"But are you sure you have the name, right?" He had said waited for the other person to talk.
"Yea' Bailey Ray Cater." He said into the phone.
"Okay, thank you." He hanged up. But, then I could hear him push keys on his phone.
So, I waited around the cover of the door at his home office.
"Bailey is coming here, to my school here! You have no right sending her here!" He said into his phone.
It was a bit quiet. "I have no right!" This time I could make out the words being said by a female on the other line. My heart skipped a beat. "I tried; you're the one who wouldn't let me be part of her life." I sneaked a peek.
He pulled the phone away a little as the female voice yelled "Sending money, doesn't count as being a father!"
"I have a life here, a family." A pain shot thought my chest.
"She's staying with my sister; she does not even know who you are or that you're her father!"
The female voice was still yelling.
"Brigitte." My father said, pulling me from my thoughts. I just shook my head yes; so he would know I was listening. But still would not meet his eyes.
"Brigitte, will you look at me." I lifted my head and glared at him.
"I didn't..." I cut him off. "Save it, I don't care or want to hear what you have to say." Walking out I slammed his door.
