Chapter 1 - Bailey

Opening the glass door a wave of cold air blows over me. Stepping in I let my eyes adjust to the huge round room that now stands in front of me. Everything looks perfect. The white floors look so clean that you might even be able to eat off of them; even though I wouldn't. The walls have tall photos of Broadway legends that were born from this school. Legends that not only, I, but millions of others look up to for inspiration.

The shaking of my hands, the fact I'm sure I have stopped breathing and wondering eyes of unknown face looking at me brings me to take the first step. I make my way down the hall on the right to the main office and headmaster's office.

"May I help you?" a lady around her frothiest asked. Her brown hair it pulled back into a slick bun and her smile looks like it's glued onto her face.

"My name is Bailey Carter."

"Aw, yes." She said, sliding her glasses further up her nose.

"We have everything ready for you."

"Thank you!" I said as she hands me a folder filled with papers.

"Your classes are listed on the first page and your map is also in there." She pointed to the dark blue folder.

"And after school, Mr. Clark will see you."

"Thank you so much Ms?"

"Maven."

"Ms. Maven." I said, smiling at her.

I walked back down the hall back to what I learned, thanks to the map, is called the Round Hall. I headed up the stairs on the left side of the Round Hall. Getting to the top, I was blown away by a photo of Magen Seen. Broadway's number one hit right now. Over the summer I went to her show, she really can do everything; dance, sing, acted, she even co-wrote the show.

"Amazing, isn't she?" I turned to see a girl with dark reddish, wavy hair, light tan skin, and hazel eyes smiling at me.

"Yea' I saw her show over the summer..."

"Fantastic doesn't even begin to cover it." She said cutting me off.

"I'm Bailey." I said, sticking out my hand.

"Lucy!" She said taking my hand, then pulling her hand away, she dropped it around my shoulders.

"What's your first class?"

"Music history, room 34."

"Same as me."

"How did you know?" I asked.

"I know like everyone who goes to this school." She said.

Turns out that we have all but two classes the same; as the day went on I could see that a lot of the same faces where in most of my class. It's really is a small school. At lunch we sat at a table with a few other people; June, Lilly, Gill, and Carlos.

"By the way Carlos is in one of those dance classes with you." Lucy said pointing at him. He had short black hair with dark skin.

"Cool." I said.

"Aw, look who it is, Mr. Popular himself." Said Lucy. I turn to see who she was talking about. A blond, blue eye; cute as could be, is who she's talking about.

"And here come Miss. Popular herself, as well." At first I thought they had to be together that's just how the world works. She also had blond hair, blue eyes and looked a lot like him the only difference was she was a bit shorter.

"Are they..."

"Twins." Lucy rolled her eyes.

"I see." I said. Letting my eyes travel the lunchroom I learned that it was a lot like the school I left; all sitting in groups. As for the table I was sitting at let's just say it's the kids who don't have labels or let labels be who they are. After lunch I changed into my dance clothes. I must say this was one of the classes I was looking forward to the most.

"Ms. Carter?" The teacher said.

"Yes." Looking up.

"I'm June. How about you find a spot and see if you can keep up?" She said.

She was my first new dance teacher, I have met today. I shook my head yes, founding a spot in back. I was doing warm ups when the door opened. I looked up to see a guy with black hair walk in. You could tell he was a dancer by how he's built.

"Mr. Henderson, welcome back!" Said June.

"We have a new student, Ms. Carter; she may need help catching up." She said pointing over at me.

He nodded his head.

Oh, please don't let him be a teachers' pet. I couldn't help but think to myself. Teacher's pets are always the hardest to please. I'm already nervous as it is. He walked over to the side of the room.

"Let's go over the dance a few times, from the top, let's go." June told the class.

I watch the first few moves slowly coping, by the end, I had almost all the moves down.

"Again, from the start."

By the second round I had all the moves down. I was happy with how easy I could pick them up. Years of dance classes, makes leanering new steps eaiser.

"Good, just bend your left knee an inch more." Said Mr. Henderson.

"Okay, thanks." I said.

"I'm Chase by the way." He said.

Turning, he was close enough I could see he had dark green eye and dimples when he smiled.

"Bailey." I said.

"Welcome; don't be a stranger; this school can be hard." He said smiling.

"Let's do that again, from the top." June said again before the dance was even complete. This time I did as he said and it made the dance flow better than before.

"Well done, Cater." June announced in front of the whole class. Many eyes look over to me. But I didn't look at them I looked over at Chase, who was smiling at me.
