Chapter 13 - Chase and Brigitte

Chase and I walked into the ice-cream shop that we use to spend hours and hours in. My eyes zoomed around the room, then stopping when they hit a face I knew, Jamie. But he wasn't alone, he was with a girl; probably one of the crazy girls that thinks he's the best thing that ever walked the Earth.

I bumped Chase's arm and nodded my head to where they were sitting. His eyes widen like he was thinking. Bailey on a date with Jamie. No wonder Jamie didn't tell Sophie I thought to myself.

"Come on." I said to Brigitte walking over to their table.

"Jamie, Bailey!" Chase said walking over.

Bailey... Could it be; my half sister Bailey. The closer I got, the more I could tell it had to be her. She had the same dark brown hair that I got from my father. But you would have never known because his hair has gone gray.

"Hey, Chase." Bailey said with a wide smile.

"Hey, man." Jamie said.

"So you guys on date?" Chase said.

There was something in his voice that told me he wasn't too happy about this.

"Just as friends." Bailey spoke before Jamie.

"Really?" I say more to Jamie than her. He shook his head yes.

This had to be one of those studied dares or he really does like her.

"Oh, yeah, this is Brigitte."

"Hi!" I smiled at them.

"Well, we'll let you be." I added.

After Chase and I ordered our ice-creams, we sat at the table we use to sit at. I noticed he kept looking over at Jamie and Bailey. And I knew why. He likes her. I can always tell, always.

"Do you know who she is?" Chase voice brought me out of my thoughts. My head was starting to feel like a blender, one thing after another bring shoved in then hitting the start button and now it's all mixed.

"I do, but I don't think she knows."

"Are you going to find her?" Only if he knew she was in the same room this moment; that I just meet her for the first time.

"She's closer than you think." I said before taking a bit of the strawberry ice-cream.

"What do you mean?" He pulled his eyebrows together.

"I'll tell you, but you can't tell anyone, no one." I looked into his eyes, not blinking once.

"No, will hear it from me." I knew he wouldn't tell anyone but the more I talk about the more true it is. The more scared I become; and I don't know why.

"Bailey."

"Bailey, Bailey?"

"Well, are there any other new Bailey Carter's at our school?" He looked surprised.

Then he looked over at her, in a different way this time. Then he looked at me; he did that a few times before his eyes widen.

"She is, I can so see it now!"

"Shh!" I glared at Chase but all he did was look at me.

"Dose your dad want her to know?"

"I don't think so." Then I add "He was doing all he could to get her out of the school once he found out that she had gotten in."

"You'd don't think she knows."

"Nope." I said popping the P.

"Are you going to tell Bailey?" He asked the one question I have been asking myself.

"Yeah, I just don't know when." After ice-cream Chase dropped me back off at school.

He offered to take me home, but my car was at the school. Driving up to my house the office light were on witch meet my father was still up. I guess the whole avoiding him wasn't going to work. "Brigitte?" His voice rang throughout the house.

"No, I'm a thief who using the front door." I said to myself, rolling my eyes.

"Come here, please."

"Like I have a choice." I said to myself once again.

I walked in to his office, but didn't sit or say a word.

"How was you’re day?" Not one word slipped from my lips.

"How was school?" He tried again. Still nothing from me.

He let out a deep breath and looked down.

"I meet her today." I said. His head snapped up.

"Did you..." I cut him off.

"No, but I will here soon if you don't." I walked off, he was calling me back but after three tried he gave up.

That night I fell a sleeping, thinking about when and how I was going to tell Bailey she was my half sister.
