Lost Portals (Tails X Reader)

The Detectives

"Holy shit!" You exclaimed, walking away from mass of robots you had just destroyed. "That was awesome!"

"Yeah, not bad for your first time!" Sonic said. "Pretty impressive."

"Not bad!?" Tails questioned. "(Y/N) did amazing!" You couldn't help but blush a little.

"So (Y/N), this is my friend I was talking about earlier." Sonic said, gesturing to Tails.

"HI! My name is Miles Prower, but most people just call me Tails!" He reached out his hand.

"It's great to meet you, Tails!" You said, shaking his hand.

'Man, this guy is adorable...' You thought, gazing at him. 'I can't believe I'm gonna live with these two...'

"Thank you guys for... rescuing me and all that." You said, rubbing you neck.

"No problem. It's what we do!" Sonic said proudly.

"Yeah! Actually, speaking of saving..." Tails started, looking over at you. "Sonic told me about you and how you got here. I think I might be able to help you get back home!"

Your eyes lit up immediately. "Really!?"

"Of course! It might take some time and work, but I'm confident I can get you home eventually."

You couldn't contain your excitement as you ran up to Tails and hugged him. "Thank you so much!"

Tails smiled. "Anytime! It's like Sonic said, this is what we do!" He said, hugging you back.

You finally let go of Tails and looked him in the eyes. "If there's anything I can do for you guys, let me know, and I'll be happy to help!"

"Well... since your here... and we don't really know a lot about you..." Tails stammered. "I might need to do some tests on you."

"Like, what kind of tests?"

"N-nothing too personal!" Tails said, clearly embarrassed. "Just some basic stuff, like body temperature or brain waves."

"Brain waves?" You questioned. "That seems pretty complicated to me."

Tails giggled. "It's pretty simple when you break it down."

"Not true at all." Sonic interrupted. "You know, Tails tried to teach me how to fly a plane once. Said that was simple too."

"How'd it go?" You asked.

"Most complicated thing I've ever done. Crashed in a little under 3 minutes."

You laughed. It was comforting that you had finally found some nice friends in this world. 'Maybe staying here won't be so bad after all...' you thought.

The three of you continued talking as you all walked back to the town. When you arrived, instead of going right home, the group decided to take a detour to see if you could find some more help to get you home. Sonic led you and Tails to a run-down building in the middle of town with a sign hanging above the door that read 'Chaotix Detective Agency.'

"Here we are!" Sonic stated.

"Good idea, Sonic! These guys are professionals!" Tails said, as he and Sonic walked inside.

"Who's Chaotix?" You wondered aloud as you entered the building.

"We are!"

You heard a raspy voice from behind a desk that sat in the front of the room. Looking over, you saw a green crocodile leaning back in a chair, feet kicked up on the table. Looking around the room, you also noticed a purple, bored-looking chameleon and a childlike bee that was flying around the room.

"What can I do for you, Sonic?" The crocodile asked, still lounging in his chair.

"Guys, I want to introduce you to our new friend, (Y/N). They're a human from another dimension."

It was only then that the crocodile noticed you standing behind Sonic and Tails. He suddenly sat up in his chair, amazed by the sight of a human. You had also gained the attention of the bee and chameleon, resulting in everyone in the room staring at you.

"Um... hi." You waved.

"Woah! I can't believe it!" The bee said, buzzing around you. "Another human! From a different dimension! That's so cool!"

"How did you get here?" Questioned the chameleon.

"We don't know." Said Tails. "They just kind of... appeared."

"That's actually why we're here." Said Sonic. "Do you guys think you could help us out with this?"

The crocodile stood in silence for a moment, deep in thought. "Hmm... I bet we could be able to find something out by looking around town, asking people if they've seen anything strange lately..."

"I'll pay you double." Sonic offered.

"We'll take the job!" The crocodile said immediately. He walked over to you. "It's my pleasure to offer you some much needed help in getting home, (Y/N)." He said, shaking your hand. "My name is Vector, the chameleon is Espio, and the bee over there is named Charmy," Vector said, gesturing to each member. "We may not seem like it, but we're the best detective agency in town! We'll get you home in no time, just leave it to us!"

You smiled. "Thanks for the help, guys!"

After Vector had been paid, you, Tails, and Sonic began to return home. Once you had arrived, you immediately went and crashed on the couch. It had been a long day.

"I'm gonna go to bed guys... I'll see you in the morning..." You said, with your voice muffled by your face in the couch.

"Ya know, we have a guest bedroom that you can sleep in." Sonic said. "...(Y/N)?"

No response. You were already fast asleep.

Sonic chuckled and began to walk upstairs. "Welp, I guess I'll go to bed too. Goodnight Tails."

"Night Sonic!" Tails said, as he walked over to your unconscious body. He stared at you, lost in thought.

"...Incredible..." Tails said quietly before leaving and wandering down into his workshop. He sat down at his desk and began sketching some ideas for new machines.

"Don't worry (Y/N). I'll get you home."
