Lost Portals (Tails X Reader)

The Human

"...Huh. Weird."

"You can say that again." You sighed.

It had taken a while, but you had finally explained everything that happened.

"Now I'm stuck here, with no friends, no money, and no place to live..." You mumbled, looking down.

"Don't worry about it! You can live here!

You looked at him, wide-eyed.

"Wait, really? You mean it?"

"Of course! I'm sure Tails won't mind if we have someone else living with us!"

"Tails?" You asked. "Who's that?"

"He's my best friend!" The hedgehog's face lit up as he looked at you. "Actually, he might know why that portal-"

He was cut off by the front door slamming open. You looked over to see a small rabbit and a blue... creature standing in the doorway.

"MR. SONIC! It's terrible! Eggman's here and he's destroying the town!"

"WHAT?" He quickly ran up to the rabbit. He was so fast, you barely even saw him move. "I'll get him! Where is here?"

"Down that way!" The rabbit pointed down the street.

"You two, stay here. I don't want you guys getting hurt!"

"Wait!" You yelled. "I didn't even get your name!"

"Heh," The hedgehog smiled. "My name's Sonic. Sonic the Hedgeh-"

He was once again cut off, this time by being hit by some kind of robot, knocking him out of view.

"SONIC!" You and the rabbit yelled in union.

"We gotta help him!" You said.

"Right!" The rabbit responded. "Wait, who are you?"

"Oh, my name's (Y/N). I'm, uh... kinda new here. Who are you?"

"I'm Cream, and this is Cheese!"

"Chao!"

You would've been confused about what species Cheese was, if not for his sheer cuteness. You had never seen anything like this before on Earth.

"AAAHHHHH!" You looked up as you heard Sonic scream outside.

"Ah, shit! I forgot, we have to help him!"

Cream looked at you, and you suddenly realized that this rabbit was about six years old, and you probably shouldn't be swearing around her.

"Don't repeat what I just said! Or anything I say, uh... ever." You said, running out the door to find Sonic.

You looked around outside. Things were a lot more chaotic than they were when you got here. Robots were everywhere, people screaming, things were on fire, but one thing stood out to you more than anything else. There was an egg-shaped man (who you assumed was Eggman) who seemed to be leading the robots.

'Another human...' You thought. 'If he's here... then he probably fell through a portal, just like me!'

"Cream, you go help Sonic! I'll be right back!"

You quickly ran over to Eggman, hoping he would be able to tell you how to get back home.

"Hey! Dude! Help me!" You yelled, waving your arms to get his attention.

"What do you want!?" He yelled, before turning to look at you. His expression quickly changed once he saw you. He seemed just as surprised to see another human as you were.

"Please, I need your help! I need back home!" You begged.

"Wait, who are you?"

You rolled your eyes. 'Again?' You thought.

"My name is (Y/N). I fell through a portal, and now I'm here and I want to leave. Get it?"

He stared at you. "...No."

You sighed.

"What's your name?" Eggman asked.

"(Y/N)."

"Where are you from?"

"Edgeshire."

"Where is that?"

"Earth."

"Right. And you said you got here from a, uh... portal?"

"Accurate."

"Did you make the portal?"

"No."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes."

"But are you really sure?"

"Jesus fuckin Christ, this is gonna go on forever." You mumbled under your breath, realizing the conversation was going nowhere.

You started to leave so you could try to find Sonic, but before you could, you heard Eggman mutter something. You turned around.

"What was that?"

"Uh... nothing! I was just saying that I, um, might be able to help you!"

You grinned. "Really!?"

"Yep! Follow me and I'll take you to my lair so we can talk about it."

"Lair?" You thought this seemed a bit sketchy.

"Lair? Oh, I uh, meant my house! Yes, that's right. My house. Come along, now."

Eggman started walking away, his army of robots still fighting. You didn't fully trust this man, but it seemed smarter than hanging around with a hedgehog, so you followed him.

"So, how did you get here?" You asked, trying to make conversation.

"A... portal! Just like you!"

"And where are you originally from?"

"...Earth?"

You paused. "Seems legit to me."

After awhile of walking, you eventually ended up at Eggman's 'house.' Once inside, you looked around. This place was huge.

"So, you said you could help me get home?" You said, looking at Eggman.

"Yes, but first I need you to answer some questions for me."

"Alright, shoot."

"What is your relationship to that wretched little hedgehog back there?"

"Sonic? I was just at his house because I was told he could help me."

"Okay, and you say you didn't summon the portal that got you here?"

"How many times do I gotta tell you this?" You said, starting to get frustrated. "I just fell, and now I'm here. I didn't do anything."

"Alright then, fine... If you don't want to tell me, I guess we can do this the hard way."

You started to worry. "Wait, what?"

"Minions! Take (Y/N) away."

Suddenly, you were surrounded by a bunch of robots.

"What!? But I thought you said you were going to help me!"

"You see," Eggman started, "If you came through a portal to get here, that must mean you have some kind of... special power. And if I could harness that power, I would be able to take over not only my planet, but yours too!"

You were stunned. You barely knew this man, but you still felt betrayed. 'How could he just... take advantage of me like that?' You thought.

"Traitor! I don't even have any special powers!"

"I guess we'll find out soon enough, won't we? Now bring (Y/N) to the prison cells..."

You were kicking and screaming while being dragged away.

"I'll get out of here! And you'll be sorry!"
