I threw up my arms screaming, I was defenseless. My ears began to ring as a sudden hummed pulsing sound came from the left. The pulsing got faster and shifted from my left ear to the right, it was followed by a loud and terrible unnatural shriek. I covered my ears groaning and squeezed my eyelids tighter."Rosalina..?" I heard. My body stiffened at the sound of the familiar voice. I couldn't open my mouth. I felt pressure on my left shoulder and began to scream frantically. No! No! Not real. Not real.
"Get off! Get off! Get off!" I yelled kicking and punching my arms. I could feel it grip around my wrists and yank me forward. My eyes shot open. The rain dripped down his chin and spots of red painted his cheek. I was breathless. I felt my vision get blurry, my shoulders grew weak and I could no longer keep my eyes open.
-----
I jerked forward gasping desperately for air. I threw up my arms and felt a tight grasp around my wrists. It pushed downwards, I forced myself up. I needed to get away. It's not real! It can't be real!
"Stop! Rosalina, open your eyes." I heard.
I glanced up to see him standing over me placing my arms in the shape of an X across my chest. His knuckles were bleeding and I recognized the black diamond symbol on his left wrist. The sleeve of his jacket had rips and tears going down revealing part of his underlying white t-shirt.
Austin?
Where am I?
I could barely keep my eyes open to explore but the pink and white drapes over the window seemed familiar. I turned my head slightly only to be stopped by the crook in my neck. It was so tense and painful.
"You need to stop moving" he said sternly. I blinked baffled by his presence. It's been five days since I last saw him. He looked different. His eyes were darker now than I remembered and his bottom lip was fatter than before. I stared into his eyes, confused. They didn't look back at me the same. He seemed colder...
I was cold. I began to feel a shiver come over my right arm and down my side. I lifted it upwards and felt a sharp sting followed by a burning sensation. It was like my arm was on fire. I cried out.
"Don't move or it'll get worse" he said releasing his grip from around my wrists. He lowered my arm slowly down and laid it flat against my side. I glanced down and recognized the pink and white flower pattern sheets. I was in my bed. The faint smell of vanilla comforted my nose and I gulped from the metallic taste in my mouth.
"I...my arm.."I stuttered.
"I know. You're going to be ok" he said softly. My vision was beginning to blur, parts of his face were doubled. I blinked my eyes trying to focus. I attempted to swallow, my throat was hoarse. The terrible growling echoed into my mind again.
Josh?.. wait..the gallery.. how did I get back home?
I glanced over to look at my arm trying to figure out why it refused to let me move it. A round thick lump covered the mass of my shoulder. It was bleeding in the middle and clear puss outlined the sides. It was shaped like a misquote bite but a million times worse. Austin reached over to my side table where a candle, gauze, bandages, and a brown glass bottle was spread out. He grabbed the bottle and poured it's liquid upon one of the gauze, some of it spilled onto his pants leg but he didn't seem to care.
"What is that?" I said softly. "What are you doing"
"Just stop talking for a minute" he retorted. I opened my mouth to speak again as he quickly placed the wet gauze over my shoulder. I cried out loudly, it stung and began to burn much more. Whatever it was, it irritated my wound and I wanted him to remove it.
