Rain, rain and more rain. The season was changing, and my body was, too, not in that way. I've already gone through that in middle school; it's normal now. Anyway, I meant that I'm getting sick. For the last two days, the weather report app on my phone has deceived me twice, saying it wasn't going to rain, and then it does. Leaving me stuck with no umbrella.

I walked into the world language office using my sleeve to open the door- I didn't want to spread my germs- there was a front desk and a woman with short brown hair sitting behind it. She held a phone to her ear and pointed her finger at me, instructing me to wait. I chewed on the inside of my jaw, holding back my sentence.

To the left of me was an office; there was a window, but the blinds hid most of what was inside. I could hear muffled voices, one female and another male. I could see someone sitting in the chair between the little spaces of the blinds, but I couldn't tell who it was. The brown-haired woman snapped her fingers at me to get my attention again. I turned to face her, slightly bothered at her manners now.

"Yes, what can I do for you?" she asked, sighing

"Um, I was told to meet Ms. Dubois here for tutoring."

"She's busy with a student now, but you can sit there and wait."

I nodded. I'm guessing that's who's in the office. I pulled my bag off my shoulder and placed it in the empty seat next to me, sitting down. I crossed my legs, coughing in my elbow. The woman glared at me. She swirled around in her chair, facing the other way.

Excuse me; everyone coughs, little witch. I mumbled to myself, rolling my eyes.

I waited about ten minutes before I heard the office door open behind me. I lifted my head and stood up so Ms. Dubois would notice me. I swallowed slowly as I saw Austin walk out of the office first, then Ms. Dubois following behind shorter than him, even in her gray heels.

"Oh, Rosalina, you came. Sorry, you had to wait. I was speaking with Mr. Blake here," she said

I smiled. "It's okay."

"Have..you two met?"

Austin looked at me, wondering what I would say; he tilted his head.

"Um, yeah, once before.." I said honestly.

"Oh, great. Austin, follow me. I still need to register you and find someone to help at your standards."

Austin paused. "Am I allowed to choose myself?" he said

Ms. Dubois looked at him. "Well, we recommend one if you aren't comfortable with that person, then yes, you are allowed to choose someone else."

I found myself slowly backing away from the two of them when I was stopped right in my steps as Ms. Dubois called me out.

"This would be perfect. An A student and a lacking D student. Rose, how would you feel about Austin being your first tutor student?" she asked, placing her hand on my arm. I looked down at it and then to Austin. He stared at me intensely, like staring into my soul; I shifted, feeling uncomfortable.

"I..guess..." I said, trying to process whether or not this was a good idea. Ellie has said some things about Austin being bad news; none of the guys like him, and I hadn't forgotten what happened at the gas station that once. That girl and the way she talked about some violation. But before I could turn her down again, she had already set us up in the system as partners.

"Good, I have a feeling this will work. Rose, please come with me," she said, walking into her office again.

Austin sat down in the same chair next to my bag. I'd forgotten to take it with me. I bit my lip, wanting to turn back so badly, but Ms. Dubois spoke so quickly that I had to keep up. Not to mention how she often switches between French and English when she talks.
