The sun shined through the window for the first time all week. It wasn't cloudy. I lay on my bed, reaching my hand across to get my phone from my side drawer. I noticed that something was off about my phone- the WALLPAPER! I quickly sat upright to examine better. My wallpaper was a picture of Luca and me. I was kissing his cheek as he grinned widely. What the frick!?
Standing up from my bed, I looked around my room when suddenly, my room wasn't my room anymore. I was standing outside in the cold. What once was sunny was now dark. I shivered, holding my arms close up to my chest. Walking slowly, I passed the creepy house. My heart started beating faster as I got closer. I could see the wood from the front staircase peeling upwards because it was old and worn down. The hairs on the back of my neck stuck up. I had a god-awful feeling inside where I knew something was wrong. I knew I should turn away instead, but I got closer and closer.
The front door creaks open slowly, revealing the living room area of the house. You usually picture a couch or TV, but only a space exists. I squinted my eyes through the doorway to see a black figure sitting in the middle of the floor. It twitched slightly. I suddenly found myself inside the house, standing a few feet from the figure. I could hear the door shut behind me and the click of the lock.
I stepped closer, the wood under my foot creaked, and the figure stopped twitching, immediately turning its head to the side. Startled, I jerked backward. I gasped, noticing that the figure wasn't a human one. It was too dark to see for sure, but I knew that this wasn't...human. Its head turned slowly towards me. I could see shapes of sticks coming from its forehead and some form of liquid dripping from its mouth.
As its head continued to turn, I was slowly coming into eyes view of its face. Its body pivoted and stood from crouching to hovering several feet above my head. It was still too dark to see its face- I didn't want to see it- as it moved slowly and oddly.
I backed away only to be stopped by the door. It was still locked. I could feel the figure getting closer to me, and I began to go into a panic. My hands gripped the doorknob and yanked it back and forth, but it wouldn't budge. I peeked over my shoulder and found myself staring at a face like no other. It had no eyes, only black holes where they might be. Its mouth was wide, and its teeth were shaped like large knives. Its face was red. Dark blood red with gashes and wounds deeply cut.
I screamed, banging on the door rapidly, now hoping, begging to be let out. Coming from my left, I felt a warm touch grip around my waist and another cover my mouth. I was pulled back into another dim area of the house, which I thought to be the kitchen. My vision got blurry now as I looked down to see the hands around my mouth and waist. One thing I noticed was that these hands were human. The hand covering my mouth had a small tattoo of some symbol drawn on its wrist. I had no idea where I was being pulled, who this person was, or what I'd just seen; I could hear a voice in my ear, but it was muffled.
"You shouldn't be here," It repeated, getting louder and louder.
I jumped upright from my bed, sweat rolling down my forehead as I familiarized myself with my surroundings. I was in my bedroom again. This time, it wasn't sunlight; it was cloudy and drizzling. The clock on my desk read 4:40 a.m., just ten minutes before my alarm was set to go off. I sighed, realizing it was only a dream and I was completely safe inside my house.
Everything about that dream left me on edge, and I couldn't stop thinking about it. The face I saw was burned into my mind. I got chilled just imagining it again. I pushed the covers off my feet and placed them on the floor, standing up. I grabbed my phone and paused, hesitating to turn on the screen. Sighing with relief, I saw my normal wallpaper. My heart was still beating quickly as if I was still in the dream. I took a deep breath to try and even calm down but couldn't. I couldn't get that face or the touch of those hands out of my mind.
