The sound of thunder boomed around us and lightening began to strike viciously in the clouds. It was like the final bang alerting us that the end was nearing. Austin had disappeared in a blink of an eye. He'd completely morphed himself into a different man but I knew he was still inside, just lost, buried underneath his pain.

"What happened?" Marina said

"He..Austin..He left. I tried to stop him, I think he's going after Darren alone."

"What? What'd he say?"

"He found out about..me..about the depth of my incarnation."

Marina's eyes went soft, she studied me closely and I could sense she'd come to realize the true nature of things too. After feeling so distant and aloof of one another we stood here with a new energy. I could tell she no longer despised me but instead we sympathized equally. That of her saving my life and costing herself life-changing consequences and myself, with the biggest weight anyone could ever image.

"So it's true. You're..you have to-

"Yes, and it must be now. I can't let Austin get himself killed. I know what I have to do and the voice will lead me."

Alarms went off in the main area of the institute, Marina and I rushed back inside where the others were scattered around reacting to the blinking lights on the monitors. Tarik hovered over the first table typing frantically on the keyboard.

"What's going on?" Marina asked

"We're picking up some serious frequencies over on the other side of the city. The largest we've seen." Tarik said

"I don't think we'll be able to contain the mass" Another voice added from the right of the table, her divine symbol was visible on her neck with her hair in a curly up-do ponytail.

"What does that mean?" I asked, I found myself gripping onto the table anxiously. The alarms stirred goosebumps and stung my ear drums. It was unsettling hearing them right after Austin stormed off. I wished he were here. I longed for him to be by my side again, so that we could talk things out. I missed his soothing. I was in need of it at the very moment.

"There's something big coming from the underground. The storm is picking up, pretty soon the high energy could start a hurricane. The earth's plane is not strong enough for the bounds he's breaking. Our masks can only control so much." Tarik said

The lights above began flickering and new rolls of thunder exploded above us. The building began to rumble slightly. I gasped taken aback by the sudden motion, whatever it was, it demanded the throne. Its entrance was sure to awake everyone. I felt my phone vibrating in my back pocket. Reaching inside I read the caller I.D. and noticed it was Mom, my heart sank in my chest.

"Hello? Mom?"

"Rose, sweetheart where are you? Howard and I arrived home, our flight was canceled and delayed. We'd been stuck in traffic for the past hour. Something with the power lines. I couldn't reach you. I just saw your room, it's a mess. Honey, what happened to the door?"

I sighed. There was no real time for me to explain, there was too much going on. Split between worlds once again I was left with the only choice possible. "It was an accident. I'll tell you later, Mom. It's not really a good time."

"Rosalina Marie Quinn, you tell me where you are this instant!"

"Please, I just need you to trust me that everything is okay. I..I promise I'll tell you everything. Just stay inside. I'll be home. I love you." I said, in the midst of everything, telling her that seemed to be the most important. I wasn't sure if I would have another chance. I wasn't sure if I would be able to explain to her everything. To say what I've been aching to say for so long. I wish it were different. I could hear her fighting to speak on the other end. She stuttered and yelled at me through the phone.
