"Jake, you wouldn't happen to know if there was a place we could speak privately without "her" spying on us, would you?" I ask Jake as I show him around the house. I had already showed him around the first floor so we're on the second floor now. I glance at Jake through the corner of my eye to see his reaction only to see that he's tense.
"I can't tell you... but maybe I could show you. Is tomorrow after school good?" I nod my head 'yes.' We continue to stroll through the halls of the house on the second floor when Jake stops abruptly. I look at Jake in confusion as to why he stopped in the hallway all of the sudden.
"What is it?" I ask looking at Jake in confusion.
"We should probably head back to the living room."
I was about to ask why but before I could even take a breath Jake turns around, he grabs my hand, and drags me along as he runs down the hallways. He takes many twist and turns turning left, then right, then another left, and he continues dragging me along down the hallways as he takes what seems to be twenty twist and turns but it was probably only eight. Give or take a few. Jake then, once again, stops in his tracks abruptly causing me to slam into his back.
"Ow." I mumble into the back of Jake's shirt, eyes closed.
"Sorry, 'she' was watching." Who is "she"?! I should calm down he'll tell me when he can. I decide not to bother asking Jake since I already know he will tell me who "she" is tomorrow after school, I hope anyway.
"Um... where are we?" I ask looking around the hallway but i don't spot anything in the halls that looks familiar or could even give us a clue as to where we are in the house.
"Maybe if we walk back the way we came from we might be able to find a room and figure out where we are from there." I suggest looking for a solution to the problem.
"We were running, how are we supposed to remember where we came from?"
"It's better to try rather than just stand here and wait for our parents to find us."
"That is true..." I still think we should stay where we are but this is just a house. It's not like we're at the zoo where we could get kidnapped.
"Ok, I'm in."
Jake and I begin walking through the halls in the direction Jake had been dragging me from. That is until we came to find a door in the halls. Jake and I look at each other with excitement then back at the door. We rush to the door with excitement and a pep in our step and once I open the door the smile that was once on Jake's face slowly fades from a smile into a frown. I turn back to the door, for I had originally turned to Jake when I had opened the door, only to scream in fear of the sight before me.
