Emily's P.O.V.

I quickly take Jake to my room as soon as he comes back from packing a few of his things at his house. After Jake sets his things down on the floor we go to the kitchen to eat since we hadn't eaten since lunch. Jake and I sit in silence as we eat in the kitchen. I really want to tell him what happened in the woods but I can't have my dad thinking I'm crazy and my mom thinking that I'm in danger. They'll both get scared and we'll end up moving again. Once we finish eating Jake and I go back up to my room and I gently close the door behind us.
"Emily, I'm sorry. You were right about Dorothy, she's real." I knew it, or at least I thought I did. Wait, how does Jake know if Dorothy is real? She's dead and he can't see her.
"How do you know?" I ask now confused.
"Sam, Mike, and I went to the library after school and searched her up on the internet. She supposedly drowned in a pond in the 1900s. Twenty to twenty five feet away from her home." I can't believe Dorothy drowned. I feel horrible about yelling at her now, I should probably apologize to her.
"Now what happened to you?" Jake asks right away getting straight to the point.
"I ran into the woods after you walked away at school and yelled at Dorothy, but while I was there I heard someone whispering my name. It seemed as if someone was trying to reach out or something. I got scared and came back running. Though, whoever it was kept getting closer and closer each time they whispered my name." Jake nods and all of the sudden Dorothy appears, sitting in a chair, in my room, holding one of my old childhood dolls I had named Isabell.
"Dorothy!" I ran over to her and gave her a hug. I think I did anyway. I might of just went straight through her or maybe I actually hugged her. I have no clue.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean what I said in the woods." I apologize to Dorothy with a sad expression. I'm so disappointed in myself for being so mean today.
"It's fine. You didn't know." Dorothy says pulling away and waving her hand dismissively. So, did I actually hug her?
I turn around to see Jake staring at me. I give him a questioning look which he only shakes his head with a smile. Jake wanted to ask Dorothy some questions so when Dorothy answered one of Jake's questions, I would answer just so he knew what she was saying. After a couple of hours, late at night, I start getting tired and I think Jake and Dorothy noticed because when I close my eyes and open them I see that it's morning and I'm in bed under the covers. I wearily look around my room as I rub my eyes tiredly, trying to find Jake asleep on the floor.
"Dorothy." I call out quietly hoping she hears.
"Yes?" I turn around to see Dorothy sitting on the edge of my bed.
"You wouldn't happen to be able to lift people up would you?"
"Yes but why?" I smile at Dorothy who looks confused. I ask if she can move Jake to the bed from the floor and she quickly does so once she takes notice of him on the floor. When Jake hits the soft surface of my bed he turns to his side and cuddles with one of my pillows. I couldn't help but let out a small giggle at Jake. Dorothy looks at me with a confused expression on her face once again.
"He reminds me of a koala." I say with a small giggle at the end which makes Dorothy laugh.
"He does doesn't he?" We both burst out laughing not being capable of holding in our laughter.
"What are you laughing about?" I turn to back to see Jake sitting up as he rubs his eyes with a tired expression on his face.
"You look like a koala." I tell him which seems to only confuse him more.
Once he noticed he was in my bed with one of my pillows next to him, the one he was just cuddling with, he blushes a bright pink which only makes him look like an even cuter koala.
"I don't look like a koala." Jake says as he gets out of my bed.
I disagree but I don't say anything since I'm hungry. Jake and I head down to the kitchen to have some breakfast and as we're eating cereal my mom walks into the kitchen all of the sudden. Why is she here? Shouldn't she be doing something other than house work, not that all woman do house work. I actually want to be a veterinarian when I graduate from high school and college.
"How did you two sleep last night?" My mom asks as I watch her pour herself a cup of coffee in her favorite mug.
"Fine." Jake and I say simultaneously. My mom smiles at the both of us as she drinks her coffee. I wonder if it taste good? I see a lot of men and women drinking coffee in the mourning. Even Mrs. Kat drinks coffee at school.
"I almost forgot! The Johnsons and your father and I decided that it would be best if you two stayed home today and rest because of all the events that happened yesterday."
"Thanks mom." Jake and I soon finish our cereal after our conversation with my mom and we head back upstairs to my room.
"Your mom is really nice." Jake compliments.
"To be honest, out of my parents, I trust my mom the most. Me and my dad aren't that close as I would like to be and she believes me when my dad doesn't. Even if some of the things I say is crazy." I explain to Jake as we walk down the halls back to my room.
Once we reach my room I open the door, close the door behind me and Jake, Jake and I sit on my bed silently lost in our own thoughts. Minutes pass, maybe hours, as we sit in silence with a blank expression on both of our faces.
"Want to watch T.V?" I ask Jake breaking the deep silence. Jake turns to me and shrugs his shoulders.
"Sure." Jake and I make our way back down stairs and head into the living room to watch T.V.
