Chapter 10: Don't Leave

Zero felt bored.

That was all he knew at the moment, following the teacher who was talking about plants and their habitats, things he already knew, while also trying to keep the unruly  teens at bay as they fooled around.

A few of the more disobidient kids tried to drink some 'tea'. Getting the teachers attention as he warned them not to drink it, he looked on with a straight face as he turned his gaze towards his dearest sister who was talking to Edward.

'Mmmm, I should think about the rest of the plot. She's safe for now.'

Zero walked out of the greenhouse once the tour was done. Having decided to just observe the plants and think of theories on them, which had had taken away his boredom slightly.

"Zeezee, how was the tour?, sorry I couldn't be with you, I was walking with Mira and Jasper." Alice spoke as she moved towards Zero, taking his hand in her cold ones. Zero was stunned briefly after hearing the nickname, only his parents had called him that and this scene felt so familiar, with that thought, he was pulled into a memory.

"Zeezee, how was your trip with dad?, sorry I couldn't be with you, I was busy with aunt Dannie and uncle Patrick." She spoke while scooping the three and a half year old Zero, who held a chocolate flavoured choco chip ice cream.

"Its ok mom, I had so much fun with dad at the aquarium, I saw a tiger shark and Jellyfishes. They were soo cool, the jellyfishes glowed like they had stars inside them and the way they moved showed they could make up a lot of speed, soo facinating and the tiger shark-"

"Enough with the aquarium, I want to make it up to you, wanna' go to the forest?" Lina asked as she played with a strand of Zero's white hair, a tender and loving look mixed with something else going across her face briefly.

"Yessss!" Zero spoke excitedly while licking his ice cream, I was weird for a three year old to be eating ice cream at ten pm. "But isn't it a bit late?", Zero asked, a small frown on his immature face that made him look cuter.

"Not while I'm with you its not." Lucy spoke while lifting little Zero up and taking him to the small green land behind their house.

Zero and his mother sat in a large tree that was tall enough to surpas the other trees, Lucy having climbed up expertly with Zero on her back.

Lucy was in the process of finishing a story she had been telling to Zero.

"-taking her soul and spirit, she bound it to the dying galaxy and all was set right."

"Wow, Xena is amazing." Zero was amazed after hearing the story, feeling inspired.

"Indeed she is, isn't she."  Lisa laughed a laugh that sounded clear and relaxed, soothing to the ears.

"But what happens to Xena after saving the galaxy?" Zero asked with a concerned look on his face, curious about what happened after.

"You didn't let me finish." lucy spoke and pulled on Zeros nose teasingly , making him scrunch up his face and bat his mother hand away. "Now let me finish, after giving her soul to the galaxy, her spirit spread and became the stars you see above us, guiding us in different ways and giving us something to know will always be there no matter what."

"That is amazing mom." After speaking, Zero tilted his head to the side adorably and with curiosity asked. "Isn't the soul and spirit the same thing?"

Lucy shook her head and said. "No they are different things, the soul contains your life force and emotions, while the spirit is like your will or a belief that makes a coherent thought appear, almost like a drive to a goal."

"Oh." Zero nodded and looked up to the sky at the bright stars that stared right back at him, feeling relaxed.

"If you ever have a problem or feel lonely just look to the sky and know the stars will always be there no matter what." Lucy said as she too looked to the star filled sky.

"Ok mommy." Zero rubbed his eyes, feeling sleepy. His eyes slowly drooped closed as he wispered a faint goodnight.

Just befor his eyes completely closed he heard his mother speak once more.

"You need to lo-"

"Zeezee, Zero!?" Alice waved her hand in front of Zero, comfused on why he had been staring into empty space for the last ten seconds, which was strange for him to do since his brain.seemed to work like a supercomputer.

Zero was shocked out of his reverie, moving his gaze to Alice who stood in front of him with a confused look on her face.

Alice looked up at Zero as he suddenly took a step foward and pulled her into a hug picking her up slightly as he buried his head into the crook of her neck, squeezing her as tightly as he could.

She was stunned for a few secends as she brought her hands to his back and patted it slightly, feeling like he needed it before she spoke up. "Um, eh Zero?"

"Don't leave me, please." Zero spoke with a shaky voice, voice muffled slightly.

Alice was stunned, freezing for a second as she felt mixed emotions, happiness, confusion and a small hint of hesitation.

Seeing as Alice hadn't answered for a while, zeros grip tightened slightly as he wispered. "Please don't leave me, tell me you won't leave me." He let out a chocked sound as he closed his eyes tightly.

"I won't leave you, i'll never leave you." Alice smiled as she returned the hug fully.

They stayed like that for a few more minutes.

Zero stood in front of the door frame, leaning on it slightly with crossed arms, looking like he was watching an interesting show as he watched his sister try to ignore his presence.

Bella turned around abruptly as she looked towards him, adobting the same posture he had albeit clumsily as she almost dropped a glass cup, settling it on the table embarrasedly.

Bella:"..."

Zero:"..."

"Ahem," Bella cleared her throat slightly, blush disappearing as she opened her mouth again, "what's with the staring?"

"You want to tell me something?" Zero raised a brow.

"No, what about you and Alice?" She spoke defensively, face turning red. Those words caught Zero by surprise as he recalled what had happened at the greenhouse with a face that was gradually turning pink.

"Ahem"

The sound of a throat clearing broke zero from his distracted state. Looking up to see Bella and Edward not far behing her.

"Eh." Zero suddenly took two steps away from Alice as Bella opened her mouth to speak.
