Zero stepped out of the hospital room, dressed in a pair of black jeans, white shirt and grey hoody on top, Bella had brought the clothes for him after the accident the day before.
He felt refreshed, after ours of close observation by doctors deeming him fit enough to leave or not. His head ached and his face burned something fierce when he spoke, it wasn't something he couldn't handle though.
He was going home with his sister, who had called telling him she would pick him up since they're father was called to work.
He sluggishly walked down the corridor, nostalgic of all the times he did the same after breaking down, he couldn't help but think of his conversation with Alice, who had left before he fell asleep from exhaustion.
It had gone unexpectedly well to say the least, no arguing or shouting, just a peaceful talk filled with the emotions of shock, disbelief, apprehension, sadness, acceptance then finally happiness and relief.
Zeros lips twitched upwards slightly, cheek spasming at the sudden jolt of pain at the motion, he felt happy but scared, scared to mess up this new thing he had, such a beautiful thing.
Before he knew it he reached the parking lot where he'd told Bella to wait for him, burnt orange truck looking as inviting as ever.
Bella opened her door and stepped out, having wanted to stay out of the cold a little longer, she carefully walked over to Zero giving him a side hug.
"You good?" She asked, wincing slightly at the sight of his horribly swollen and still red cheek.
"I'm feeling better than yesterday. How's your day going?" They walked toward Bella's truck and opened their respective doors, feeling warmth chase away the slight chill of the outside.
"Uhmm pretty good I guess, it's still pretty early to determine if it's gonna go good throughout you know." Bella turned the key and started the car, the engines roar giving Zero a small jump of surprise that did not go unnoticed by Bella.
"We'll be home in less than 20 minutes, buckle up." She spoke for his benefit, knowing his irrational fear of anything with four seats and wheels.
"Thanks." Zero gave her a small look of gratitude then faced forward fingers twitching, watching the tree's and buildings approach and go by.
The swan siblings held a comfortable silence until Bella couldn't help but ask "So… what happened with you and Alice?"
Zero pursed his lips, holding back a grin at the giddy feeling that swept through him like an adrenaline rush.
Bella mistook the expression for unwillingness to talk, she stumbled out a rushed apology and a, "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to… unless you're ready." She added the last part as a whisper.
Zero smiled fully now, not caring for the scorching streak of lightning that ran up his face.
"She proposed."
The car swerved slightly.
"Come again" Bella's eye twitches, wondering if she'd heard wrong.
Zero realized he'd gotten too giddy and clarified. "I mean we are now together, a thing, a couple."
"Wow, congrats bro, I wish you a happy relationship ok, really." Bella smiled, she was happy for him, very much so.
"Ohh we will have an awesome relationship." Zero had a weird expression due to the swelling.
She was surprised that he didn't start giggling and clapping like a little child after being told they were getting they're favorite treat, his expression was so animated, although… Bella couldn't tell if the expression was excited, nervous or perverted but it certainly brought a weird vibe coming from he brother specifically, it was quit ugly looking on him.
