Chapter 1: Promisorry Note

Chapter 1

"Daddy, are you going back to the hospital?"

"Yes, baby," he replied while buttoning his cerulean blue dress shirt.

"But it's already late na, Daddy."

"I know, sweetie." He knelt in front of me and carressed my face. "But your mom needs me there. Babalik din ako tomorrow para asikasuhin ang planning para sa birthday mo, anak."

"Really, Daddy?" Kuminang ang mata ko.

"Yes, baby. I already talked with the event organizer. So tomorrow, we will have a meeting with him so you can tell him what you want for your birthday celebration."

"Yey! I'm so excited na, Daddy. I will have a pool party na with mermaids."

"You will, baby. I have to go na. Your mom is waiting. Take care of your little brother, okay?"

I gave him a nod. He gestured my little brother to come and he did.

"Let's play with this!" he exclaimed hugging his monster truck we bought in the Mall earlier after our date.

He carried Tav-tav on his arms and playfully messed his hair.

"Daddy, needs to work in the hospital, baby. Your mom is waiting too and I need to take care of her. But don't worry, tomorrow we will play with your new monster truck."

"Okay, Daddy. Tav-tav will wait tomorrow."

He put down my little brother and gave us a warm smile. We want him to stay more so he carried us with his arms. Me on the right side while Tav-tav on the left. Usual thing that we used to do whenever he was leaving for hospital work.

"Drink milk before going to bed, okay?" he reminded while walking to the doorway.

"Can we visit Mommy?"

"Next time, sweetie." He gave me a kiss on my cheek and he did that too on Tav-tav. "Daddy needs to go na. Don't be hard headed to our helpers. Be good, okay?" He put us down and looked on his wristwatch.

"Papunta na po kayong hospital, doc?"

"Yes, Ponkan. Kayo na muna ang bahala sa mga bata. Don't forget to lock the gate."

"Yes, doc."

"Kids, it's already late na. You need to clean now and prepare for sleep."

"Half-bath time," Ate Ponkan teased.

"But it's cold," reklamo ng kapatid ko.

"May heater naman, Tav-tav. Saka katawan lang naman. Pawis-pawisan ka kanina, hindi pwedeng hindi ka maglilinis."

Daddy leaned to give me and my brother a forehead kiss.

"I love you," he whispered.

"I love you more, Daddy."

We gave him a kiss on his cheek together that made him smile. He opened the door and slid himself inside the car. I just waved my hand while watching the trunk until it lost in my sight.

"Tara na sa loob nang makapag-half bath na kayo at makapagpalit na rin ng damit." Inakay na kami ni Ate Ponkan papasok sa loob ng gate.

The next morning, I woke up in my messy light pink bed. Tav-tav was still sleeping so I went down from my bed and covered him with the blanket before leaving the room. I took a few steps down the stairs and since I was having a short legs because of my age, I had a hard time going down the stairs.
