Chapter 5
They lived happily ever after.
Sa linyang iyan kadalasang nagtatapos ang isang fairytale story.
I was a huge fan of fairytales. Wala lang. Sobrang naa-amaze lang ako sa kanila. I even dreamt to be a princess when I was a kid. But in reality, I wasn't a princess with crown who lives in a castle. However, my dad treated me like a real princess. And even though he was always busy in his hospital works, he always makes time for me and Tav-tav.
"In your 18th Birthday gusto ko ako ang unang magsasayaw sa 'yo."
That was his exact words eleven years ago. Few hours before he met an accident.
"Daddy, your baby is now a lady," my voice cracked while I was staring on the mirror of the vanity table in front of me. "I'm eighteen now but you're no longer with us, Dad."
Sobrang tagal na noong nangyari pero hanggang ngayon nandito pa rin iyong bigat. Naka-cope up na kami at tanggap na rin namin but there were still questions like...
What kind of life would we might have if he was still here?
Maybe our mom would not cry in the middle of the night for missing him so bad.
Maybe my little sister, Hope, would grow up with a father figure.
Maybe Travis would not have doubts and fears in pursuing med.
Maybe he was here to dance me for my 18th Birthday.
We may have everything now. Ilang beses man kaming ngumiti, tumawa, at magpakasaya, we knew in ourselves that deep inside there was still a torment- something that was already engraved in our heart. I immediately wiped my tears and pretended like nothing happened when someone entered the room. It was the Event Organizer. He told me to ready myself na for my grand entrance.
"Let us all welcome, the debutant, Ms. Cazsiopeia Amari Conzego!"
The spotlight lightened my place that made my light pink glittery ball gown shimmered. Everyone were looking at me and admiring my looks. The claps were flattering but their smile was heartwarming. I was filled with happiness seeing the people I love being here to join me in this special moment.
I looked around to find the person I know who wouldn't be here.
Daddy.
I had a short speech to welcome the guest and then after that we proceed to the traditional debut ceremony. The host called my little brother's name for the 18 Roses and I saw how nervous he was when he stood up from his chair. He walked towards me uncomfy because of the attention he was getting.
"H-Happy Birthday, Ate Sofie." He handed me the rose.
"Hey, relax. You looked nervous, lil bro," I teased him while we were swaying with the orchestra.
"They are all looking at me, Ate."
"Of course they will. You're a Conzego, dude."
"Nakakahiya."
"Ikinakahiya mo ate mo?" taas kilay kong tanong.
"Of course not. Hindi iyon ang ibig kong sabihin, okay?"
