Storm, Part 2
Adam held his breath, not wanting to move. His gaze was locked on Seraina, and how she stood at the top of the hill, dangerously skirting the edge of something that shouldn't be crossed.
He feared if he took just one step he might frighten her, or inspire her to cross the line and not look back.
The wind brutally cracked its whip at Adam's cheeks, blowing his black bangs off his forehead. His eyes were the only thing about him that wasn't monotone, his eyes were blue. At the moment they were grayed with emotion, and simply a reflection of the sky. The blue seemed to leak out of his eyes and stream down his cheeks, leaving no color behind.
There was nothing at the top of the hill now, just bare, dead grass swirled about in mud by Seraina's footprints.
Adam's eyes were not blue any longer, his tears dried up and gone, leaving a gray iris to match the rest of him.
