(Present Day: Three Months Later)

May Lane, I know that name. I have met her before, in the past. Back before I even knew Daisy. Where am I though? It's bright. All I see is a bright yellow light, am I looking into the sun? My eyes, they are finally open.

I looked around the room, I am lying down in a hospital bed. There is something in my arm, I finally got myself to sit up but I feel weak. I am the only person in the room. I cannot remember what I was doing before this. Oh, I was going to May's apartment. She must be waiting for me. I leaned forward from the bed but right when I stood up, I fell down. I could feel my heart racing as I looked down. I could not feel anything, what is happening. My leg, why is it gone? I looked up to see a nurse rushing over to me.

"Don't move, I'm calling a doctor right now." I watched her as she started panicking. I felt my whole body turn numb as I stared down at my lower body, my right leg was gone.

"Hello Professor Jay." The doctor took a seat next to me, "You were in a three month coma." As if this day could not have gotten any worse. She looked down at my leg, "We can get you a prosthetic leg, you will have to go through a lot of physical therapy. I recommend staying here for another three weeks. I know this is a lot for you, I called your brother, he should be here soon. Please rest."

I remember now, I thought I was dead. I could have sworn I was dead, I watched my own body leave me. Someone grabbed the other me and flew me up to the surface of the water as I was sitting at the bottom of the ocean, drowning as I watched them fly away.

"Augie." I looked up to see Sage walk in, "Fuck." There were tears running down his face as he walked up to me. He wrapped his arms around my body and hugged me for a moment, then sat next to me. "I don't know what I would have done if I lost you too."

"You're so dramatic." I tried smiling, but I couldn't. "Three months." I quietly said.

Sage whipped off the tears on his face, "I tried visiting every day, but I stopped coming as often because there was this girl who was always here. She wouldn't leave the hospital for almost a week." Sage sat back in the chair and confidently said, " But I convinced her to just visit for two or three hours a day. She wouldn't really talk to me though." Sage looked down at his watch, "I swear I thought she came around this time, I always run into her when I would come see you during my lunch."

"May." I said under my breath.

"Yeah! That was her name, how did I forget?" My brother would often say his own thoughts out loud.

I looked over at Sage, "Did you know about my leg?" Sage looked down at my leg that was over the hospital blanket, "I'm sorry Augie, but you'll be fine. I promise."

I covered my leg with the blanket again, I felt sick just looking at it.

"Augie" That voice, "You're-" I looked up to see May walking towards me.

My brother stood up, "I'll come by tomorrow."

I stared at May, she looked as beautiful as ever and I have not even seen myself for three months, I probably look frail.

"I would get up, but I'm currently one leg short." I said in a serious tone as May sat down next to me.

She laughed, "You have such a vulgar sense of humor." I flinched when she leaned it to kiss me, "Sorry, I know it's sudden, you probably need time."

I looked down at my pale hands, "You're the kid."

I looked back up at May when she asked, "I'm the kid?"

"Yeah, the one I met on Christmas my freshman year of high school."

May smiled, "I know, I grew up a bit huh?"
