There is too much fluff in this story, I may have to change that soon.... Also, I've been thinking and I think I'm going to change the cover as it conveys EX being evil and the whole plot of this story is that xe's not- So yeah, may change it soon! Enjoy the chapter :)

Xe slowly blinked, pale sunlight peeked through xir eyelids, blinding xem for a few seconds. EX let out a yawn as xe tried to stretch out xeir arms, only to find that xay couldn't move them. Shaking xeir head, EX realized where xey were, the alt was leaning on the side of the couch, xeir arms pinned by a certain smaller hermit who was still sleeping peacefully, cuddled close to EX's chest. EX felt xeir cheeks get a little hotter at the situation, and even more so when the small hermit stirred and let out a silent yawn.

"Mornin' EX..." Grian's voice slurred a little, although he didn't move, in fact, he seemed perfectly content to stay right where he was and he even closed his eyes again, nuzzling even deeper into EX's chest. EX had definitely learned by now that Grian was NOT a morning person...

"Morning Grian." EX was sure that xeir face was completely red by now, and Grian could most definitely hear how fast xir heart was beating, but if he did notice, he didn't bring it up. "You hungry at all?"

"Mmmm, sure...." Grian's tried response made EX roll xeir eyes, and let out a laugh.

"Alright then, sleepy-head, you're going to have to let me up if you want me to make breakfast."

"No." Grian held tight to his friend, being the stubborn gremlin he is.

"Grian I have to get up-"

"Noooooo, stayyy!" Grian whined like a child wanting a lollipop.

EX sighed. "Alright fine, five more minutes."

It was more than five more minutes. For some reason that EX couldn't put xeir figure on, xe found it really hard to say "no" to Grian. At some point Grian must have fallen back asleep because he started quietly snoring, he also seemed to have moved his head from EX's chest to xir shoulder. This did not help xeir heart-rate to calm down.

At this point EX had basically come to the conclusion that Grian was not going to be moving anytime soon, so xay carefully slipped out from under that hermit, moving a pillow in xeir place and resting a blanket over xier friend's shoulder's. Now, xe could make breakfast.

The smell of warm butter filled the household, drifting and filling up every room. EX quietly hummed to xemself as xay skillfully transferred the hot biscuits (Not cookies, biscuits. They're a kinda sconey (Oh god, apparently British scones are completely different from Canadian and American ones as well.... Please send help.), buttery breakfast thing! They're amazing.) to a large plate.

"EX...?" A tired yawn from behind xem caused xem to jump a little.

"Finally awake I see?" EX teased Grian, putting the final biscuit down onto the plate.

"What are you making?" Grian asked, walking up to the counter and peering over his friend's shoulder, having to stand on his tiptoes to see what amazing creation the alt had made.

"They're called biscuits (WAIT FRICK- Xisuma's British so EX would be too so xe wouldn't call them that.... You know what, whatever- Actually wait, what WOULD xe call them...? ), they're really good. They're basically scones with less sugar!" EX let out a laugh as Grian's eyes widened in amazement.

      "Can I have one..?"

     "Of course!"

Grian then snatched up one of the biscuits (I'm just now realizing that I'm pretty sure American biscuits are British.... Oh well.) and shoved it in his mouth. EX picked up the plate with a smile and brought it over to the couch, plopping it on the table for xem and Grian to enjoy. They sat there in silence for a while, just enjoying the morning sun and the baked goods, at some point Grian had shifted a little so that he was sitting very close to EX's side, their shoulders almost brushing.

"Hey uh, Grian, can I ask you something?"

"You just did." Grian replied, his signature smirk plastered on his face.

"I- you know what I mean...."

Grian rolled his eyes. "Alright fine, what is it?"

"Are you....feeling okay...?" Grian turned his head to look up at EX, he had an unreadable expression on his face. "I was a little worried about you, just because of what happened last night..."

The smaller hermit took in a breath and bit his tongue, shifting his gaze away from EX's. But the alt was having none of it, even though xay were not generally the person to go to for emotional...anything really, xe knew something was up. And xae would not stop until xe figured it out. EX gently reached out and rested xeir hand on Grian's cheek, slowly guiding it to face back at xeir own, forcing the hermit to make eye-contact with his friend.

      "...Not really...." Grian finally admitted.

"Want to talk about it?" Grian just shook his head. There was a moment of silence before Grian finally spoke.

"What's your relation to the other hermits?" Grian asked cautiously. "I mean, you don't live near them, I didn't even know you existed, they call you "Evil Xisuma", actually, why do they call you that, why Xisuma of all people!?"

"Oh, me and X are related-" Wait crap- EX froze, that was not supposed to slip out. "And as for the other questions, let's just say I have a bad reputation among them..." The alt said, desperately trying to change the subject.

"Wait wait wait, you and X-eye-sooma are related!?" Welp.

     "Yes...."

Meanwhile..... (Mumbo's POV):

"So you think he's missing then?" Xisuma raised an eyebrow, a gesture barely noticeable behind his visor.

"Yes...." Mumbo nodded his head, it had been a week since his fight with Grian, he hadn't seen his best-friend since and was starting to get increasingly more and more worried for the smaller hermit.

"When was the last time you spoke to him, or saw him at all?"

"Last week... We....got into a little fight..."

Xisuma nodded thoughtfully and sighed. "Alright, I'll see what I can do. But first, I'm going to call a meeting to inform the other hermits."

"Alright..." Then, the admit flew off, leaving Mumbo alone in Boatem. Don't worry Grian, you'll be okay, no matter what it takes
