By the time the police reached the place where Celeste had supposedly been hiding, it was too late. Lawrence was already out of Jail and gone and Celeste was gone. The police had double faulted, letting two criminals get away at once.
Later that week Celeste appeared at the police station, pleading guilty. She told them she had wanted to come to the police the whole time, but Lawrence had threatened to kill her. She told them everything, in between sobs. The police were mostly sympathetic, but they were being very cautious, they had already really stuffed up with Lawrence. They shouldn't of let him go until Celeste had been caught.
Eventually after they had finalised test results and gone over and over the multiple interviews with Celeste, they decided on a jail sentence for Celeste.
"I think six months should be sufficient. It is evident that you feel guilt for what you have done, plus you also pleaded guilty, this can change though, it could become a shorter time frame," Said one of the policemen.
"Yes, okay," said Celeste. "Have you heard any thing about Lawrence, Officer?"
"Not yet, sorry, we have almost every car out on search though. He hasn't got anywhere to hide now," the Officer smiled down at Celeste sadly. He looked tired and worn out. "Well then, I better take you to your cell,"
"Okay," Celeste said quietly.
