Celeste

Chapter 2.

Lawrence slipped behind a large box just before he was about to be seen. Ralph snickered when he saw Celeste's panic stricken face, as he approached.
'Come with me!' Ralph demanded, his voice echoing and booming around the hollow walls.
'Yes,' Celeste whimpered.

Alyssa left the room quickly. As soon as she had done so Ralph turned around and his face softened. He took Celeste gently by the hand and said, "Come with me and I can take you away from this mess. I won't hurt you I promise I'm on your side, I swear."
Celeste stared in utter disbelief, she couldn't believe what she was hearing. It was good, but astonishing.
Lawrence appeared from behind the boxes. Ralph took a step back, pulling Celeste with him.
"Let me go," Celeste said calmly. Ralph loosened his grip, but did not let go. For he did not know who this Lawrence person was.
"I'm Lawrence," Lawrence explained, "Celeste's husband,"
"Oh, oh sorry," Ralph stuttered, letting go of Celeste's arm.
Celeste lunged towards Lawrence, embracing him in a long needed hug. "I thought I lost you," Celeste whispered in his ear.
"Well lucky you didn't," Lawrence replied.
Ralph turned away to hide his sadness. He hadn't know Celeste was married and he was going to tell Celeste that he loved her. It was too late now though and they were running out of time.
"We need to leave, now!" Ralph exclaimed, motioning towards the door.

The three of them crept slowly along the thin corridor, careful to not make a sound. The edged along the wall. Ralph peaked out around the corner, to see if anyone was coming. Then they quickly made an escape through an open window that opened onto the ground floor of the building. They stood on the ground, the wind ruffling their hair. They hugged each other goodbye and then they Lawrence and Celeste started to run. Running away from Alyssa and her dreadful laughter.
Ralph climbed back through the window, and with that, he was gone.
