Author's Note: I am very behind on my writing but I want to see this book to the end with a good finish. Sorry for slow update. I hope you enjoy this chapter.

Katerina's POV:

Bella's party was a blast. I had hope for Bella's sake that it would at least of a small size, but it seemed the word small was not in Alice's vocabulary.

The party was huge. Of course only the Cullens and us were there, but the whole downstairs area was decorated from top to bottom.

I had missed this. My sister's birthday party's. Our family get together's. Let's just hope I survive long enough to see another one of these. Hope, sounded familiar, to every single summer at camp.

And yet, year after year I had stay alive, physically anyway.

"Here comes the birthday girl!" Down came Bella in the same dress from the film. Yet she seemed less shy and smiled more. I like to think that's due to me being here.

Small birthday wishes were shared as Bella was one by one given her gifts. Rosalie's face was still as funny as in the films I must admit, but of course things started to take a turn for the worst.

Jasper went berserk, I had never seen a vampire in so much of a frenzy. Oh Hades. I'm supposed to be a clueless human, what card am supposed to pull this time?

Luckily, no more blood was lost than in the original film so the rest of the Cullens managed to keep it together.

If I was going to remain a innocent human I would need to act dumb. And that's exactly what I did.

"I can a sure you that jasper was just feeling a bit off today but I suppose he wanted to make an effort for your sister's birthday." Carlisle explained while tending to Bella's arm.

Wow Carlisle, you've gotten really bad at excuses even if I was a regular human, I could see through that lie.

"Please, give my regards to jasper then, I hope he feels better soon," Carlisle just nodded.

"I was wondering, if you don't mind, I would very much like to have a wonder round your lovely wall decor that Bella had pointed out earlier."

"Sure, I'll be a while  here so I see no reason why not."

"Thanks." And with that I made my way upstairs.

Now, I know that you don't see much of the upstairs decor in the films, but seriously, they really do Esme's work on the house no credit.

The walls were beautiful, well polished and darker brown with only dime lighting as to not destroy any precious art works.

The paintings themselves were amazing, the painter's must have been some of the finest of the age. I followed the corridor down, until, I saw it. THE PAINTING.

THE VOLTURI

A work of art didn't cover the elegance and beauty of the painter, every mark of the paint brush was pinpointed to every degree of accuracy. One could only presume that the craftsman was a vampire himself as no human could have gotten this close to perfection.

I remembered the words that eddy boy had used in the film. 'The closest thing we have to a royal family.'

Family, there was that word again, forever haunting me. Something, I could never truly obtain.

The three kings, whether it was just the painting or the fact that I had in fact nearly came face to face with all three of them a few months ago. But I had to admit I was drawn in by them.

Aro, Caius, Marcus, one raven hair, one bleach blond and one brunette. All with the eyes of blood, all with a secret almost hidden in the painting itself. But what?!

However, it would seem as though my time was up, as Bella and Carlisle had decided to join me at that very moment.

"Its a beautiful piece isn't it, a family friend of mine painted it of him and his brothers, he wanted to set it in a Edwardian fashion as almost a inside joke I presume."

Okay, I have to admit, your lies are getting more snappy and believable by the turn but Carlisle you've got to do better than that.

Eddy boy decided to drive us both home. To say it was awkward was an understatement.

Both star crossed lovers seemed to stay in the faze, 'who's going to speak first,' and I wasn't about to interrupt the silence. So instead I decided to put the radio on.

Feeling used, but I'm still missing you
And I can't see the end of this
Just wanna feel your kiss against my lips
And now all this time is passing by
But I still can't seem to tell you why
It hurts me every time I see you
Realize how much I need you

I hate you, I love you
I hate that I love you
Don't want to, but I can't put nobody else above you
I hate you, I love you
I hate that I want you
You want her, you need her
And I'll never be her

What about all the times
You would pick me up and we'd just drive
Around until we found a place to stay and waste the day away
We'd do nothing but it was okay with me
You say it's not good to spend all my time
Thinking about you so late at night
But I can't stop once I start it's like an avalanche
Thoughts coming and I just wanna hold your hand
Hold your breath, I'm going under
Not coming up 'til this night is over
Until this night is over

I hate you, I love you
I hate that I love you
Don't want to, but I can't put nobody else above you
I hate you, I love you
I hate that I want you
You want her, you need her
And I'll never be her

All alone, I watch you watch her
Like she's the only girl you've ever seen
You don't care, you never did
You don't give a damn about me
Yeah, all alone, I watch you watch her
She is the only thing you ever see
How is it you never notice that you are slowly killing me

I hate you, I love you
I hate that I love you
Don't want to, but I can't put nobody else above you
I hate you, I love you
I hate that I want you
You want her, you need her
And I'll never be her

Oh the irony.

Eddy boy briefly payed us goodnight and went on his way. Rude. Not even a goodnight kiss for Bella.

Marcus's POV:

My brother's and I had been in the library for days going death records, that was when I felt a sudden tug on my bond.

From where my bond tying our mate to my brothers and I had been gold, was now plain white and black. Yet I don't know what that means.

"Brother, what is wrong?" Aro asked.

Over the years my brother and I have grown frustrated for our mate but even more so my brother since I was used to the patience of waiting.

"Our mate bond has changed colour to black and white, I've never seen this before though."

Aro took a hold of my hand. "Indeed brother,-"

"What does this mean?!" Caius seem to spring into full alert at the mention of our mate.

"We will find out brother, have patience."

Caius huffed. "We've been waiting for the last eighteen years what do you think I've been running on." Caius in his slight rage threw the centuries old books and candles to the floor.

"I can't wait much longer, has there been any news from Demitri yet."

Aro could only sigh in reply. It has been a while since we have heard from Demitri. The last thing he had told us was that he had been checking some place called Long Island.
