The Titans and Titanesses were the ancestors of the Olympians, Chthonians, etc., as well as the first divine beings to rule the cosmos. They were the sons and daughters of Uranus, Titan god of the Sky, and Gaia, Titan goddess of the Earth, who themselves were children of Khaos, the void in which the world was created. Most of the Titans were removed from power during the Titanomachy, a coup staged by the Olympians to take control of the earth.
