Ephemeral.
That's what it was, wasn't it?
Hard to tell when he makes it seem otherwise. Because you were just laying there, damp grass underneath, mellow moonlight overhead, hugged by the presence of Chan and a blanket of fireflies whose miniature glows glint off his irises like lit lanterns.
Ephemeral.
The fireflies could disperse with the next breeze, moon chased away in the blink of an eye, his smile turning into a slumbering snore before the hours of the night could catch up with you.
A moment ago he was raving on about stars and the realm beyond fireflies, but when he says, "I'd like to make myself believe planet earth turns slowly, if only for tonight," it makes ephemeral turn into ethereal, as if that just could become true.
