"Leni, can we talk?" Risa entered their room with a serious aura on her face. It's been 3 weeks since they had a fight and they were not talking to each other since then.Leni stood up and nod her head as she follows Risa outside their room. Leni was having a second thought about telling Risa what she feels right now, but in her mind, if they kept on telling to themselves that everything will be okay it will just destroy the relationship they built together.
'But what if she will say the words I am afraid to hear from her tonight?' Leni thought while making her way downstairs. Risa, on the other hand, is fidgeting her fingers as she hears her fiance's footsteps. 'This might not be the best decision I would do tonight, but it would be better if she knows the truth. After all, it is what she deserves.'
It's been three months since they got engaged and everything was going fine, but then one day Risa woke up and realized— 'I wasn't ready for it. For her.' and that is when things started to get fuzz in their relationship. Since then, they started to fight over little things that they used to love doing together before.
"Mahal." Risa closed her eyes, as tight as she can when she heard Leni's voice calling her 'mahal' again. This might be the last time she would hear it from her.
"I'm tired." Risa said as she looks up on her. Sadness is evident in Leni's eyes as she heard that from her. She knows what it means, she knows what Risa meant by that.
"I'm tired of pretending that I can still make this relationship work. I'm tired of telling my self that I love you, that you are the love of my life, the queen of my heart, my heart stopper, the woman that I would want to spend the rest of my life. I'm tired, Leni. Pagod na ako kasi alam ko sa sarili ko na hindi na ikaw. Hindi na magiging ikaw ulit at ayaw kong ipilit na magiging ikaw pa ulit." Risa's word feels like a knife that kept on stabbing Leni's chest every time she utters it in front of her.
Leni couldn't feel anything right now or maybe because she saw this one coming. In two years of them being together, she knew that the both of them has been holding up their feelings towards each other. Leni was scared that maybe she might not give Risa the love that she deserves. They kept on waiting for each other to speak up for what they truly feel, but it never occured to them that they never really even met each other halfway in their relationship.
"I thought when I entered this relationship with you, I would be the happiest woman in the world, but I was wrong and that whatever circumstances we'll face I will be ready because I have you with me, but I was wrong. I wasn't ready, I will never be ready for someone like you to love me, pangga. I love you, okay? But this... just doesn't feel right anymore." Risa added. Still, Leni was just standing there, looking down and listening to every words that Risa was saying. She knows the moment she looks up and met with her eyes, she will met down and no, she doesn't want to show that to her that. Not ever.
Leni watched her as she slowly removes her engagement ring on her finger as she slowly walked in front of her and reached for her hand. Risa handed it to her without looking into her eyes and steps back again.
"I am calling off the wedding. I'm sorry." Risa said and left Leni alone in their kitchen, where they used to dance all night with their favorite song, where they used to play with the foods that they are making and where they used to plan things for their future.
"I get it, Ris. You will always be ready for everybody else but me." Leni whispered to herself before leaving the kitchen to start packing her things upstairs.
