Caves are scary (Sonadow) Part 1?

Tails pov

"According to my emerald tracker, it should be in that cave" I pointed to said cave. "Well? Let's go!" Sonic dashed into the cave. "That moron!" Shadow dashed after him. "Soniiicc- ugh wait for us!" I gestured for everyone to follow. Amy being the fastest runner beat me to Sonic as I saw her hugging him in the cave while Shadow was scolding Sonic about how dangerous it could be. I rolled my eyes and pulled Amy off of Sonic much to her displeasure and pushed Sonic towards Shadow's general direction. Yeah I know about Sonic's little crush. "Sonic you can't run off like that, what if there were things in there I didn't say like traps or something?" Sonic got up and laughed before brushing himself off. "I think I could handle a few traps buddy" He put his hand on the wall, which was a trap itself. The rocks above us started to crack. "You stupid mother fu-" Is all I heard from Shadow before Knuckles grabbed me and pulled me back from a rock coming down. Darkness filled my vision as my ears rung. My voice was hoarse as I called out. "Knuckles? Amy? Sonic!!??" Silence. Then a cough and a shift from next to me. "You okay dude?" "Yeah but where's everyone?" "I'm here!" I heard Amy and looked to where I heard her voice. I saw a outline of her hand and reached for it and grabbed it before pulling her towards me. "And I'm here. Some rock scuffed my boot." Rouge huffed. "I can't see anything" "Huh?" Me and Rouge said at the same time. "Yeah I can't see anything either." Amy said. Then it hit me. I'm a fox and Rouge is a bat. We thrive in the night time vision. I turned on a flashlight and gave it to Amy before giving one to Knuckles. "Where's Sonic and Shadow?" "MY SONIKKU" Oh god- "Let's just calm down and call them on my co-" I looked down to see my communicator was broken. Amy didn't have hers on because 'It didn't match my outfit' Yeah okay. Sonic and Shadow are on their own but they should be fine. I turned on my tracker and headed towards it. "Come on, they'll find a way, I have a feeling." And off we were. I smiled to myself knowing Sonic could confess his feelings.

Sonic's pov

What the fuck happened? I sat up to feel something soft below me. It felt like.... Shadow?!! I squinted my eyes. It was! I'm on top of him??! Did he protect me? I got off of him. "Shadow? Sh-shadow wake up" "What-" "Are you okay?" "Yeah. Are you?" "Yeah thanks" I heard Shadow get up. "Since I'm the ultimate life form, I have perfect vision. I'll lead you out of... Here..." Shadow looked at his broken communicator. I squinted down at my also broken one. Me and Shadow must've got the main hit. "Well we can't go out this way so we'll just have to get out of here ourselves." Shadow grabbed my hand and led me to solid ground. I hung onto him. "Fox boy just said it was in this cave so if we find it we'll grab it and get out or we just get out. I'll look for something to provide light just hold out." "Alright"

Time skip and Shadow's pov

"Shadow I'm tired and cold!" "It's 8pm and underground what do you expect? Do you want me to just pull you close so you're warmer?!" Sonic looked towards my voice. "I- alright fine! Fine! Come here" I picked him up and started walking. I looked down 10 minutes later to see him sleeping. I laid down and pulled him closer to me. I put my hand on his waist and hugged him as I slept. I woke up to Sonic shifting beside me so I turned and pulled him to me. I pet his quills down and licked them clean as he slept. Tastes like chilli dog and rocks with... A hint of honeysuckle? Huh. I closed my eyes and went back to sleep.

When I opened my eyes I glanced at my wristwatch which could only tell time. 9:07 am. Ok. I rub Sonic's shoulder softly, "Faker, it's 9 am. Let's eat and keep moving." "Huh? Ugh... Five more minutes.." "Faker-" "Please?" "...Alright I'll give you some more time" "Thanks Shadz" I eat a banana and take a sip of my water then take out an apple for Sonic as well as his water. I wait until 9:30 then rub his shoulder again. "It's 9:30. Time to wake up and eat" Sonic shifted and opened his eyes before taking in a deep breath and yawning. He flipped the blanket off of him before covering himself again, quickly remembering that it was cold. I focused some energy and created a chaos spear, illuminating the cave. "Thanks" Sonic grabbed the apple and took a bite, chewing it slowly before swallowing and taking another bite. I set the spear on the ground and started walking away from Sonic. "I gotta piss, don't follow me and hurry up with that apple." "Yep" After I was done I came back to Sonic to see him picking everything up. He saw me and smiled, "I think I got everything" I picked up my spear and looked at him, "You want me to carry something?" "Nah I got it" "Alright, let's go" We walked in silence until we came across two tunnels. Sonic shifted his gaze to each one then me. I closed my eyes and tried to imagine the Emerald that was in the cave. "This one" I head towards the right tunnel. Sonic didn't say anything and followed me. Strange. "Something on your mind Faker?" "Huh? Oh it's not really anything, just lost in thought" "About what?" "Well, the situation, the others, you.." "What about me?" I inquire, focusing on the emeralds energy before choosing another tunnel. "I- Well- What's not to think about you? I mean you're different than everyone else.. In a good way! Not bad different! I just think you're really interesting.." I did a double take and looked at him. "Really? Interesting how?" His face turned pink in the light of the spear. "Like you're mysterious and strong and don't seem to be affected about what other mobians say. Not to mention your hover shoes, those things are cool! I've never seen anything like them before. Well, besides Tails trying to invent some because his tails gets cramped sometimes. He's been trying to create functional hover shoes for a while now. He always tells me how he can't get something right then says something like 'How does Shadow have a pair of hover shoes that reach those speeds so easily its not fair'" Sonic laughed a little at the memory. "And your quills always look so sleek and clean, like you take hours everyday just taking care of your quills. All I do is brush them in the morning." I listened to him with surprise on my features, the tips of my ears burning. "And don't even get me started on your eyes. I've never seen someone have such vibrant red eyes as yours and-" I was now looking directly at him. He flattened his ears, "Sorry" "No now wait a minute. Did ya really mean it? All of it?" "Well, yeah but-" "Thank you" I softly say. "What?" "Thank you Sonic" "I.. You're welcome Shadow" I smiled before sensing a great deal of chaos energy, Sonic sensed it too. "That must be the emerald! Come on Shadow!" He grabbed my hand and started running towards the energy. I went to pull away but went with him instead, skating along the rocky floor under me. I looked at our hands intertwined before my face went red and my stomach felt ticklish. I continued skating next to Sonic who had a hopeful smile on his face. We went right then right then left then right. We entered a room with the red emerald inside. Sonic's eyes widened in awe. I squeezed his hand and he let go quickly. "Sorry for grabbing your hand I was just trying to go quicker and-" "It's fine" I walk up to the Emerald and place my hand on it, feeling the aura flow through me. I pick it up and go back to Sonic before offering it to him to hold. A burst of warmth flooded through me when Sonic touched the gem and he seemed to feel it too. We both looked at each other intently before Sonic spoke up. "I-I think we should get out of here" He sheepishly stated. "Yeah I think so too, you got everything?" "Yeah, and Shadow?" "Hm?" "Can we hang out more often?" "Mm why?" I studied Sonic's face as he stumbled for a response. "Well- nevermind" "No, tell me" "Well it's just these past few days you've been really gentle with me and I-" I grabbed his shoulder then trailed down his arm, grabbed his hand and looked into his eyes that looked back at me with anticipation. I took in a breath, "Sonic, I know what you feel like and I wanna say that I.. f.. feel the same about you and.." I trailed off looking into his deep emerald pools then to his lips. I pressed my own together before taking my other hand and placing it on his cheek before leaning in and pressing our lips together. I pulled him closer and put my hand on his back, up through his quills then to the other side of his face. I separated from him to see his face red. I wiped his bottom lip with my thumb before grabbing the chaos emerald and his hand. "Chaos control!" We teleported to outside the cave. Sonic leaned on me for support before regaining his balance, only to almost get knocked over by Amy. "Sonic! Thank goodness you're okay! We've been looking for you for days!" "Sonic!" "Tails!" I see Sonic pry away from an upset Amy as Tails flew into his arms. "I missed you too bud" Sonic sighed, hugging his brother tightly. I smiled softly. "What you smiling about? Blue?" "I- No. Of course not" "You have the Emerald?" Rouge asked expectantly. "Yes but you're not getting it" Rouge pouted then sauntered to Knucklehead. That Faker...
