A week later another knock came at my door. I knew it was Haru and I didn't even want to talk to him. I yelled through the door, "Go away Nanase."
"Yamazaki-kun, I need to talk to you," that was most definitely not Haru's voice. No, that voice was too gentle, there was only one person it could be. I opened the door and sure enough, there stood Makoto. He smiled and asked, "Can I talk to you Yamazaki-kun?" I stood back to let him in.
He went to my living room and waited for me to join him before turning to look at me. I saw the look on his face as he looked at me and felt the hairs on the back of my neck rise. He was so pissed it was scary. His voice was lower than it had been a minute ago when he said, "Why did you do that to Haru."
So that was why he came. I tried to be calm as I said, "I don't know what you mean."
Makoto narrowed his eyes, "Why did you fuck my boyfriend?"
"So you are still together. He said that you had left him," not that this really changed anything, but I said it anyway. I added, "I'm not really sure why I believed him."
"He was trying to get back at me!" Makoto started to lose it.
"So, what, you had an affair and so he did?"
"It was a party flirtation and they kissed me." Makoto defended.
"Shouldn't you be telling that to Nanase?" I said, trying to distance myself.
"This is your fault," Makoto pointed at me, "You've always preyed on him when he's vulnerable."
"My fault?" I could feel the anger rising, "My fault?" I took a step forward, making Makoto take a step back. "I won't deny fucking him but I'll be damned if it wasn't ever his idea and at his persistence."
Makoto was still upset, he didn't seem to like what I had to say. More quietly than before, he said, "You took his virginity." Makoto spoke through gritted teeth, "It should've been with someone he loved, it should've been with me."
"Just for the record, that was my first time too and if you think I wanted to spend it with him..." I took a deep breath, "Yeah, he should've done it with you. But instead he used me to get to you. If I could go back and change it, I would. But I can't."
Makoto looked at me, pain covering his face. But what was I supposed to say, there was nothing either of us could've done to change what happened. Makoto let out a long breath, "Why did he come to you?"
What was I supposed to say to that? I sarcastically said, "Maybe he wanted to do it with someone you knew, maybe my eyes reminded him of you, maybe I'm just that good. Why don't you ask him that?"
"That can't be it," Makoto's response was immediate. It kind of threw me off.
"Are you saying I'm wrong?" I walked forward to stand an inch from Makoto, looking down at his face.
Makoto looked me back straight in the eye, "I don't believe you."
"I could make you forget about everyone else." I smirked.
What did I get myself into this time...
