I opened my eyes, not realizing that I had even fallen asleep. It was morning. I was naked. I suddenly remembered what happened the day before when Makoto came over. How did I get myself into that... I paused thinking for a moment, I didn't remember Makoto leaving.
I immediately looked to the other side of my bed and sure enough, he was still there, sleeping soundly. This was weird. I hadn't ever stayed after doing it before. But wait, it was my apartment, he was the one who should've left. I had no idea why he stayed. I sat on my bed, hanging my legs off the side and hanging my head in my hands. What was I supposed to do.
I heard rustling behind me and a hand lightly ran along my back. Makoto's voice was still sleepy, "Morning."
I couldn't turn to face him, how was I supposed to? I let out a small laugh, "Heh. Tachibana. I would've never thought you'd do something like this." My comment was met with silence. "When Haru finds out about this, are you two supposed to be even? Will it really end there?""We pull through a lot," Makoto said quietly. "Somehow we seem to manage staying together despite what we do to each other."
So I wasn't the only one. That's how it was. "How do you two manage that." I didn't really expect an answer.
Makoto rolled off my bed and started picking up his clothes. He seemed to be thinking to himself, "How do we manage it?" He pulled on his pants. "Well we don't actually talk about it very much."
I looked back at Makoto. That seemed so unhealthy. I didn't know what to say, all I could do was look at him, my eyebrows knitted together. He was fully dressed now. "It was nice doing it with a friend, Yamazaki-kun." He walked out my bedroom door.
I sat there gawking for a moment before pulling on a pair of pants and running out after him. I stopped him in the hall, asking, "Leaving already?"
Makoto smiled that perfect closed-eye smile, "I have to get back to Haru."
This wasn't right. None of it was right. I stuttered, "Do you at least want some breakfast?"
"Oh no," Makoto started walking again, "Haru will have some for me." He opened the door and took a step out. He looked back at me, smiling one more time for closing the door behind him. I had never felt so hollow as I did right then.
