Party Flirtations

Rin's welcome back party was going exactly according to plan. He even cried when he saw us all waiting for him. I should've expected that. I wanted to talk to him, ask him all about how Australia was going. But Haru got to him first. Haru was hanging around Rin, asking all the questions I wanted to ask, leaving me to hover and listen. What had gotten into Haru. He didn't seem to be letting up on Rin at all. He seemed to be downright flirting with him and right in front of Makoto. But if it bothered Makoto, he never let it show. He hid his feelings well behind that smile he always wore.

After a little while, I gave up and went to get a drink. Makoto came and stood right next to me. "Rin's enjoying his party isn't he?"

I only grunted in response. I wanted Rin to be happy yes, but of course I wanted to be there more. This was one of the only times I didn't want to be on the sidelines, but I had no choice. When Makoto didn't say anything else, I looked up to see him looking so serious. I followed his line of sight and saw what was bothering him. Rin was leaning against Haru, with his arm on Haru's shoulder, just the way he used to, but it was what Haru was doing. Haru was getting closer and closer to Rin, even brushing his hand along Rin's other arm as they spoke. I squeezed my hand, crunching the plastic cup in my hand. I looked back at Makoto, "Doesn't that bother you?"

Makoto put his smile back on, "He's always had a special connection with Rin."

I narrowed my eyes at him, "So? He's always had a special connection with you."

"Sousuke," Makoto looked me straight in the eye, his face remarkably blank, "Not everyone is as sensitive and possessive as you." My eyes widened. And with that, Makoto went back into the party and out of sight. I knew exactly what was his problem and he was taking it out on me. He had the nerve to call me possessive when he's the exact same way when it comes to Haru.

After that and the fact that Haru would not be separated from Rin, I had to leave. I said goodbye to Rin, telling him to text me whenever he was open to do something. I glared at Haru and then promptly left. I didn't know what happened to Makoto, I assumed he was looking for a good time or something to drown his annoyance in. Him and Haru, what they had was so unhealthy.

I thought I was free of that situation when I got home but my phone buzzed and I saw a text from Makoto. Why... Why did he have to come to me. His text message read, "Wanna come over??"

I don't know why, but I responded to him. "And where's Haru this time?" As if I didn't already know.

"Guess who went with Rin back to his hotel room" was Makoto's response. Dammit. At that moment, I really hated Haru. Haru should be with his boyfriend and I should be the one with Rin. But nothing was ever that easy.

Five minutes later I responded to Makoto, "Fine. If you wanna come over, I'm not doing anything." I knew what he wanted from me so I decided to skip right to it.

"No" Makoto's response was immediate. It was soon followed by another message, "I want you to come over here."

I sat there for a long moment, looking at the messages. This was probably one time I could get out of anything if I just told him no. But I was already picking up my keys and leaving my apartment again. I messaged him as I was walking, "Fine."
