Chapter 7: Stalking RHENEAS

"Let's do this!", I said to Jesse once we had thought up our plan. First, we needed to get to the station. It was on the other side of the train tracks. We knew that there were trains coming backwards and forwards on the train tracks, so we needed a plan because trains can go really fast and run into us and kill us unexpectedly. So we decided to look both ways to see if a train was coming. We could tell if it was coming by the loud noise of the horns or puffs of smoke. It looked like there were none coming. But when we tried to step out onto the tracks, a train came speeding past us. I threw a carrot at it.

"Hey you!", said the train, which was blue. "I am an important engine. I don't like carrots being thrown at me. I am pulling a very important train."

"Sorry. I didn't know you that important!", roasted Jesse. "

"That's Sir Handel", she then explained. "He's an uppity show-off! Let's go. No trains are coming." But as soon as we were about to cross, another train sped across. 

"Seriously?", I whined. "we must go super fast." So as soon as the train went away, we began to sprint. But as soon as we started, we saw another train coming. 

"You have to jump, Peter. that train is going to hit us any minute", said Jesse. And so I jumped and Jesse flew to the other station, just as the train passed by, narrowly avoiding it. But as soon as we got there, Jesse told me something.

"The station master is in there and he keeps his door locked all the time. I can pick the lock with my beak, but we have to avoid the station master and not get him angry.", she explained. So she picked the lock with her beak and we were in. We closed the door as quietly as we could. The station master was asleep.

"Lazy old boomer.", said Jesse. "This will be really easy!" We hopped across his desk until we found the maps. We had to look for a map with RHENEAS' route on it. We opened a drawer on the stationmaster's desk very quietly. But as soon as we started riffling through the maps to find the map with RHENEAS' route on it, the stationmaster woke up.
