Chapter 14: Making a Team

As soon as I saw him, I told Rusty about my situation.

"How on earth are we going to find the poisoner?", I asked him. "This Island of Sodor is even bigger than my own home."

Rusty answered, "The poisoner must be a human. So we should look at all the places where there are humans like stations or signals."

"Good idea!", I said. So we went on our way. The first place we stopped was at a signal box. There was strange cat at the signal box that did not look like Tom Kitten. It was cream-colored with brown feet and a brown tail tip. It also has a strange gold, oval-shaped coin on its forehead. 

"Excuse me", I asked. "Did you see who poisoned Rheneas or are you the the poisoner yourself."

"Well, I'm the cousin of your friend, Tom Kitten and he told me that he saw a man with a burgundy cloak with a hood carrying a mysterious bag."

"Where did he go?", I asked.

"I don't know.", asked the cat. "You'd better ask Tom." So we did.

"I didn't see where I was going", explained Tom. "But I remember his scent and can track it down for you. I should come with you." 

"Me too", said Squirrel Nutkin. "I've always wanted to be a detective. So that's why I made up all those riddles, to keep the bad guys distracted while I search for whodunnit!"

"Me three!", said Pigling Bland. "I have always wanted to see the world. And I heard that there was an engine on this island that was saved from scrap, just like me! I really want to meet him!"

"Us too!", said Jesse S. Magpie, Dommie Wolf, Will Antlerson, and Lu Longlegs, who had magically apperated next to me.

"I crave adventure", yelled Jesse. "I was born to catch troublesome traitors and make them get what they deserve!"

"I want to prove to everyone that I'm not a weakling.", said Dommie. "I want to show everyone the I've got a lot of stuff in me, despite my medical problems!"

"I have loved this island and its inhabitants ever since I was a small child.", said Will. "I want to help save them from anything that comes their way and make the island a better place."

"Me too", said Lu. "Being a trans male spider is hard, especially when you accidentally poison people you didn't mean to. I fight for justice and equality for all and I don't want people to be poisoned because of something they can't change. I'm with y'all!" Then I went over to see Benjamin.

"Benjamin?", I asked. "Why don't you want to join us?"

"I'm scared. What if they poison me too? The one thing that I want more in this world is to be with you and Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail. I don't want to die."

"We want to come on this adventure.", said Flopsy and Mopsy. "We are your sisters and we are willing to help you anyway we can."

"Me too!", said Cottontail. "And I can't wait until we attack the poisoner!"

"Well then", said Benjamin. "If they are willing to come and help me. I'll come too. You guys are the greatest support a lop-eared bunny can have. Thanks!" And after a group hug, we all set off to find the poisoner who poisoned Rheneas' coal.
