THE BOSS

I must have fallen asleep after a while because Pierce's loud banging on the door and his shouting made me jump out of an otherwise uncomfortable position. The book and the doll fell to the ground in the process.

"BOSS!"

He screamed one last time and I sighed while picking up the two items, removing the dust that had stuck to them. I remembered the page and slammed the book shut before I stood up from the bed with a cramping neck pain.

"Come in, Pierce. And stop with that racket!"

I replied and he busted through the door immediately. Back when we had moved together, we had agreed on a simple rule to value each one's privacy. When you want to enter someone's room, you have to knock and wait for permission to enter. I more than appreciated that both Pierce and Shaundi valued and respected this rule.

"Thank you, Boss. Sorry, Boss but it's important..."

He crossed the room in only a few steps but I was fast enough to toss the sheets over both book and doll to avoid questions that I was not ready to answer yet. Pierce held out his phone under my nose, showing me a video on pause that showed Shaundi being held down by a white kid with dreadlocks, a lime green t-shirt, khaki cargo pants and circular glasses, as well as a Marley hat, lazily draped over the hairstyle.

"What is this?"

I asked and held out my index finger to play the video before Pierce could even answer. It just showed how Shaundi was violently smacked against the floor and touched in inappropriate places. All you could hear were men laughing and Shaundi's muffled screams since her mouth was being forced shut by DJ Veteran Child's hand.

"What is this?!"

I asked once again only far more serious and a lot more furiously.

"I guess Veteran Child made it but it was sent out from Shaundi's phone with the caption 'Don't think that big boobs and a pussy will be enough to get to me, Saints.' I think Shaundi's cover blew..."

Pierce replied in a worried tone and with a twice as worried expression. I just sighed and jumped up again, going for the holster which I tied over my blouse. I rolled up the sleeves, put on the gloves and threw the green blazer jacket over my arms to hide the weapons.

"What are you doin', Boss?"

"Going after him, of course! I won't let him hurt our girl any more than he already did. There will be no more blood spilled on my watch. Where is this?"

I asked him, pointing onto the phone in his hand.

"His clubhouse. Up in the university district."

"Thanks."

I snapped, shoved him aside and exited the room before I hurried down the stairs and out of the front door. I pressed the button on my car key and the vehicle unlocked itself with a "beep, beep". I entered and immediately slammed the key into the ignition, digging my heels into the two pedals right when the motor revved.

So many thoughts plagued me during the fairly long drive. What if they had killed her already? What if she was in pain? Raped? All three of those? I would never forgive myself for it. Carlos' loss was enough; the last drop added to the barrel. Should Shaundi die too, I was over. I will not be able to hold myself in check and move on. Eventually, I arrived at the club house and pulled out both guns, once I broke through the front door.

The place was desolate but I could hear the mix of reggae and techno music reaching me from somewhere so I decided to follow it, right until I reached a staircase that led me to the dance floor and the bar.
