THE BOSS

Who would have guessed that it would take only two weeks for our new Loa Dust business to boom? Of course, we distanced ourselves from that name, creating our personal line of Saint's Gum, Saint's Nerds, Saint's Dust and a brilliant idea from Pierce, Saint's Flow. A semi-drug disguised as an energy drink.

We had become rich within these days, grossing a total of $194.7 per hour. This allowed us to buy cribs all over town. By the end of the week, we will be able to open our first publicly available store. All thanks to Shaundi and her team working overtime with creating the chemical base. Even Ultor tried to copy our brand... Unsuccessfully.

And the Sons of Samedi were hopelessly lost and bankrupt. No one had ever heard of them again. Rumors on the streets are that Sunshine and the General returned to Haiti to spend the rest of their days there. Should they ever try to resurface though, we'll be ready for them and they will regret it to ever have shown their noses again. But for now, I was saved some killing and I was glad about it.

Now that the Samedis were taken care of too – all their cribs and territories once again taken by us – we could focus on the final obstacle before taking out the big guns for Ultor: The Ronin.

And according to Pierce, he had already found the perfect way and opportunity to hurt them. At least begin the final campaign of ruining somebody's life. But the Ronin were the most dangerous, according to Mr. Chang and Ben King – they were also involved in funding our brand and sponsoring our public name – so I hoped for Pierce's sake that he was right with his idea.

He had asked me to wait outside our beach loft in my best outfit – not a challenge, since I always dressed up anyways – at 9pm. On a Sunday. Unlike him, I had to get up early to finish off the deals for our own local store and help supervise Shaundi with the website she had volunteered to create for us. Her technics major proved to be just as useful as her PhD.

After a while, he joined me outside, looking all classy himself. A sight that I could get used to. He wore a grey suit with purple and halfway unbuttoned shirt underneath. A silver chain with our emblem – the Fleur-de-Lys – crowned his chest and he wore a grey beret to match with his suit.

"Where are we going that has forced you to dress up like that?"

I asked in amusement, chuckling a little. Pierce was not the type to dress up at all, unlike me who did so for any occasion. I have gotten to know him as a casual person who'd rather have things served to him, all ready rather than having to move a muscle and work himself. You can imagine my astonishment, seeing him like that.

"Ya gonna see, Boss."

He walked past me and into his own car. A classy electric in purple and with golden rims and trims. All of our Saint vehicles were purple, a tradition established by Julius Little back then, I was told. Only I had a different one. Old-timer in black with white-gold rims and trims and only the window tinted in purple, as well as the seats and the LEDs that made it glow from underneath at night. That had been Lin's choice and I did not want to disrespect it. I wish I had met her...

He got into the driver's seat and I next to him, waiting for him to start the engine. Unlike my car, his was very silent and pleasant to be in as a passenger. Soon, we were rolling and he took the highway up to the suburbs. The Ronin's territory of operation.

Aisha lived there but she had protection although she had no idea of it. One of Mr. Chang's personal bodyguards was inside the Ronin and tasked with protecting her from within. Shogo Akuji, the Ronin's leader, was a very gullible young man just become thirty for power, so he was easily fooled.
