The morning was hectic with Efe showing Carolina all around the house and the beach. He told her everything he could about how they all came to be here at this beautiful place. Carolina loved the stories about his parents, they seemed so much like a fairytale.
By lunchtime they had explored the whole area, and were lounging on the beach. Efe had her wrapped up comfortably in his arms as they watched the waves move in and out on the shoreline. It was quite hypnotizing and relaxing. Enough so that she had almost forgotten about her dad and the way she had left things with him on the phone the last time they spoke.
She already knew that her dad wasn't going to leave it alone. That's just not the type of person he was, especially with her, his only daughter. He would put up a fight. But at least he didn't know where to find her, not yet anyway. Until then she was going to enjoy this time with Efe and his family. She would deal with her dad later.
Sanem called out to them on the beach, " Hey you two, Dad has fixed some lunch, come up to the courtyard and join us."
Efe waved at her, " Ok, we'll be right there." He answered. " Come on babe, let's get some thing to eat. Then I'm taking you to town and giving you a tour of that beautiful place." He kissed her cheek, grabbing her hand to help her up off the blanket. She nodded, " Ok, but we don't have to do everything in one day, I plan on being her for a while you know." She replied jokingly.
Efe pulled her closely up against his body, " I beg your pardon my dear, but I think you are her to stay, not for a while, but for the rest of our lives." He mumbled, brushing his lips against hers ever so slightly. She giggled, " That tickles." She said, pulling back a bit to look in his eyes. " And so this will be our home, here with your parents, for the rest of our lives?" She asked, her eyes questioning him.
Efe stepped back, " You don't like it here. This place is great, why wouldn't you want to stay here?" He said, baffled by her statement.
" Oh no Efe, don't get me wrong, this place is great. But if I'm going to stay her for the rest of my life with you,...we will have to have our own place." She stated, not pulling any punches. She smiled, " Don't you agree." She asked, giving him that look that could convince him of anything.
He pushed the hair back from her face, " Anything you want my love. But let's talk about this later, come on let's eat." He said quickly, grabbing her hand and pulling her through the sand toward the house.
The lunch was delicious and she was becoming more and more comfortable with Can and Sanem. They seemed to have welcomed her with open arms, and she could see how Efe and Kadir had turned out to be such wonderful men.
After lunch Efe and Carolina headed into town. He couldn't wait to show her around, and maybe even introduce her to some of his friends. They offered an invitation to Kadir to come along but he declined, " No thanks, I have a couple of things to do myself. Gotta go see if I still have my job, and visit the university." He explained.
Efe shook his head, " Come on brother, that can wait a few more days, we just got home." He said, admiring the dedication of his little brother. Kadir laughed, " I know, but I can't put it off. I'll get bored if I don't get back into the swing of things." He told him. He laughed and patted him on the back as he climbed on his motorcycle, " See you at dinner." He yelled as he sped off toward the highway.
Efe took Carolina to the center of town. It seemed to be the place where everything started. All the cafes, restaurants and the bars that Efe visited were there. He was a regular in most of the hotspots around town, so Carolina wasn't at all surprised when they entered the first club and everyone called out his name. " Efe Divit, where have you been keeping your self." The man behind the bar yelled out as the couple found a table and sat down.
He waved, " Manuel, how are you. Oh I've been around. Hey send us a couple of beers." He ordered. Carolina smiled at the exchange between the two, " Everyone knows you, I not surprised. Do you come here often?" She said, leaning over close to him.
He smiled as he caught her holding her there up against his body. " Well I have been known to spend a few evenings here, and some of the other spots too. But don't worry, I won't be doing that much anymore." He spoke, brushing his lips against hers.
The waitress slammed the two bottles of beer down on the table, making Carolina jump and Efe pulled away quickly giving her a dirty look. " Hey Martina, be careful. You're spilling good beer." He replied jokingly.
" Hello Efe, so you're back I see." She replied, her voice full of sarcasm. " That didn't take long, you could always find a replacement wherever you wanted." She spit out the words with venom. Efe glanced quickly at Carolina before he stood and faced the girl. " Look Marty, I know you are Paolas' friend, and you will believe whatever she says, be there's always two sides to every relationship. And I certainly don't have to explain my side of it to you."
Her face turned a slight shade of red, as she tossed the napkins on the table, turned and walked away. Efe rubbed his face, trying to wipe away the embarrassment of that exchange with Paolas best friend. Carolina had been silent through the conversation, but she knew that this was only the beginning of her trouble there when it came to the other women of Efe Divit..
He looked at Carolina, seeing that look of doubt. " I'm sorry love, I shouldn't have come in here, but I forgot that she worked the day shift. She is Paolas friend, and there's not much telling what all she told her about our breakup. Are you ok." He asked, entwining his fingers with hers and giving her fingers a kiss.
She looked around to see if the girl was watching. This may be more than I bargained for, she thought, as she felt the icy stare front the girl behind the bar.
But it only took one look at Efe, those distracting and alluring eyes, to make her forget all about all those other women. She hoped she wasn't wrong about him. All the things he told her, all the promises he made, she prayed they were true.
Martina had disappeared to the back, and Efe was sure she had gone to report to Paola that he was back in town. They quickly down the beers and Efe laid the money on the table.
He waved to the man behind the bar, " See you later Manuel. Thanks for the beer." Manuel returned the waved as they left. Efe ushered her down the street toward the center square. He wanted to get away from all those eyes that seemed to be staring at them.
Paola hadn't been far away when her friend called her, telling her that Efe was back in town, and sporting a new lady on his arm.
Paola watched them from across the street as he showed this other woman around the square, even stopping long enough to give her a kiss. She smiled, as she watched...
" Well Efe Divit, a new woman. I wonder where you found this one." She said out loud. Her feelings for him hadn't changed, but the direction she would take now would be totally different...
