" HER MIND WAS FIGHTING A WAR IT WAS MEANT TO LOSE. "

She was tired, exhausted and all she wanted to do was sleep and re-energize herself. A sigh escaped her lips. Keeping the coffee mug on the railing of the terrace she turned around facing the door. Even with her eyes almost dropping, she stood there waiting for her brother to clean himself and come there. She couldn't even see his face. Apparently, he and Naina sneaked off from the food war that had been raging in her kitchen after starting all of it. When she arrived, they were still outside.

She didn't notice their absence when she was still under the influence of her annoyance and anger towards X. She didn't even sweep a look at the faces in the kitchen. Not even bothering to check who all were responsible for ruining her precious kitchen. Her mind went crazy at that moment. She couldn't even think straight.

Wind blew her hair, making them stick to her face. Her dark brown tresses which were curled lightly bounced on her back as the breeze flew them, covering her face not soon. She wiped them out of her face, opening her eyes and turning the other side, facing the enormous view that the terrace of Oberoi Mansion gave. Her hair flew behind from her face, falling on her back.

She inhaled the misty air, her eyes closing as soft breeze whisked past her face. A smile threatening to break on her lips. For a moment she forgot everything. She forgot how X left her hanging at the cliff, how her kitchen got ruined, how the matters at her office aren't ready to fix themselves, how Oberoi Inc. is on the verge of collapsing. She forgot herself, her existence, left behind her past, walked out of her present and blocked her future.

She felt time still.

Everything that she had to solve, the mysteries she has to find, the secrets to unravel, everything that went on in her life felt non-existent, unreal. She transported herself to another universe, where it was just her. As a woman, a person, as someone who just existed to breath. She could breathe, feel the air touch the insides of her lungs and then retrieve.

And as she exhaled, the burden of all those things reappeared on her shoulders, weighing her down and knocking her out of breath. Her lungs constricted and a gasp escaped her lips. She felt her lips dry. Picking up the cup, she gulped the leftover coffee.

The door creaked open; her eyes flew open. She turned around keeping the cup where it was kept before. Dark brown hair entered her sight, and the silhouette of her brother was visible under the flickering lights. His head bent and he stepped onto the terrace, his built body swallowing the space around her.

Her eyes met a familiar shade of amber that glowed as moonlight lit them up. The tiniest lift of her lips occurred and before she knew the heavy body of her brother crashed in her, plummeting her backwards. If not for the glass wall preventing, she would have fallen with him above her.

Her arms curled around her brother, who himself was curled into her. His face was tucked into the crook of her neck and hands encircled her waist as he breathed in the scent of her, his sister, his lifeline. She patted his back and smoothened out his hair out of habit. Her veins felt peace reach them. A sigh escaped her lips.

Aryansh nuzzled his head like a baby. His hold on her tightened, a sob breaking out of his lips. She swallowed, not letting herself lose control. Pulling away gently, she wiped away the tears off his face. He towered over her, yet his 6-foot frame felt too small in front of her height of 5'9". He sniffled, tears dropping from his eyes that were wiped by her fingers.

She stared at him with adoration. His face changed with time, and he grew more muscular. His hair which used to be a mess over his head were gelled and styled back neatly, a few strands still wet from the shower he had. She drank him in. The ache in her chest grew as he gazed at her like she was his world.
