Twenty-Four Surprises on the front (Absil)

Now that Clover was gone, I joined the watch guards for the town. I had to make sure that everyone else stays safe. The cold night air brushed my face as I patrolled the perimeter of the town. I like the patrols mainly for the peace and quiet. Today Clover was especially in my head, or more like Shadow killing me for letting her go. Then I heard a faint rustle coming from the bushes. I stopped moving to listen for what will come next. The only thing that followed was silence. Before I continued my route, I heard a small whimper coming from the bushes. I crept up to the bushes as quiet as possible only to find a baby fox crying his little eyes out. He was small and white with a black spot on the end of his tail. "Poor little guy." I said as I gently picked him up. His crying stopped as he looked up at me. He brushed his soft little head on my arm. "I think I'll name you.....Frost." I guess he liked his name cause he let out a little bark. "Come on Frost. Lets finished the route and go get some shut-eye." On my way back, I saw a light coming down the trail. Probably just a courier. He rode up to the city gate and halted. "I have a letter to deliver within the city!" He shouted to the guard in the watchtower. "For Who?" The guard replied. "Absil!" The courier answered. Who would send me a letter this late? I walked out to meet the courier and to receive the letter. As a took the letter, I noticed an insignia on the envelope. It was Shadow's family crest. I opened the letter as fast as possible. "Absil, It is ok that Clover left. I don't blame you for it. I found out that she is currently in Starfall and I'm going to talk some sense into her. However, it has come to my attention that someone is following me for an unknown reason. Careful, if they are coming after me, they might also come after my home. You need to keep your eye out. Something big is coming and we're in the center of it.
,Shadow" I usually would think Shadow was joking. But this time was different. Something big was coming and we aren't prepared for it.
