It's been a whole day since we set out for Guillotine. We found it once feeding on a tiger, but Ranshur charged it like the brute he is. Before I could stand up, the Scythe Hands moved around him and beheaded him. After the Scythe Hands disappeared from view. Absil wanted to give him a proper funeral, so I let him while I chased the Scythe Hands down. We caught up at an entrance to some ruins. We knew it was resting in the entrance."What do we do? Anything that goes near that entrance gets sliced in half." Absil whispered trying not to wake it. " Go on the top of the entrance." He looked at me like I was insane." I'll draw him out, and once he's out, jump and aim for the head." He really wanted to argue, but he knew there was no other way. He took off running in the trees to get to the ruins. As I waited for him, I got a flashback. It was my mom walking me home from the lake. " If you keep swimming out that far, sea serpents will grab you." She said to little me. " Sea serpent can't go in lakes. They go in the sea." I said back. She just laughed at me. Then her laugh immediately stopped. "Mom?" I said. She shushed me. That's when I heard a clicking coming from the ruins. It emerged from the entrance. It towered over us. I thought we were gonna die. My mom drew her sword and her crossbow. "Run!" She yelled at me while charging it. I couldn't. I was paralyzed by fear. As my mom jumped of it's back and stabbed it in the throat, it yelled a mighty roar. That's when it happened. My mom screamed, and then it was silent. The monster went back into the ruins. I was alone. When I came back, Absil was standing on the ruin's entry way. So I got up and started walking there. There I was in the same spot I stood twelve years ago. I just stood there, watching the entrance. Then the clicking started. It rose from the tomb entrance, but it was smaller then twelve years ago. It swiped at my legs, and the only thing I could do is evade. I flipped over the claw and drew one of my four swords. I signaled Absil, and he was ready. With his two claws, He sprung up and sliced a huge line down his back. Once he reached the bottom, he ran around to me. When the monster lifted it's head to scream, I noticed something different. My mother's sword wasn't in it's throat. "Absil!" I yelled. "It isn't the same one!" Absil yelled back to me,"What do you mean!" "It isn't the one we're after!" As it gathered it's strength back, it swung the back of the blade at Absil. It knocked him fifty feet into a boulder. He was unconscious. As I stood up ready to fight, a Darkwood Ranger showed up. He threw a flask the disoriented the Guillotine. Then with a large chop, he beheaded the monster. I thought it was pretty ironic. He picked up Absil and walked up to me. "We need to get out of here." he said to me. "No." I replied," This isn't the same one." Then a giant rumble came from the ruins. Another one came out. It towered over us and was pure black with green eyes. It roared a mighty roar at us. "We need to move, now!" the ranger yelled retreating into the woods with Absil on his shoulders. I didn't follow. Instead, I drew the second sword from my back leaving the two on my sides alone. As I rose from the ground, I saw my mother's sword in the monster's throat. I smirked at it and wispered to myself,"That's the right one." and sprinted towards it. It swung at me with it's left claw. I didn't jump over it this time. I jumped and landed on it. It swung it's claw upwards to bring it down to kill me, but once it reached the highest point, I jumped up leaveing the claw as it swung down, smashing the ground. I was at least fourty feet in air. It looked up to see me flying down with force."Too late." I said with the wind ramming into my face. Then I finally contacted the ground. When the dust cleared, I was standing and the monster was missing it's left claw. When it roared this time, I put me left sword away and ran up the monster's back. The roar finished and the head was lowering. I jumped off it's back and grabbed my mom's sword with my left hand. It was a little lighter then mine, but I didn't mind. The sword was finally with it's rightful owner. The monster so furious, that it swung the only claw it had with full force. I ducked and when the claw was right above me, time froze. Now. I brought my swords up with full force, severing his last claw. The monster fell to the ground, dazed of blood loss. I walked up to it and stared it in the eyes. "Goodbye." I told it before ripping it's head off. As the town came in my eyes' view, I picked up the Guillotine's head and continued walking. "What do you mean you left the other one?" I hear Kazlar yelling from the stage."He stayed to fight the Guillotine. I thought he was behind me." the ranger tried explaining. Everyone went quiet when I emerged from the trees. As I approached the stage, the Raxus family approached me. "Where is our boy?" they demanded. I stopped walking and turned to them. "dead." I replied. I saw the horror in their eyes. I knew how they felt. I got up on stage and threw the head at Kazlar's feet. Kazlar was amazed. "You are a very talented boy....I mean man." he said to me. The eldest approached the edge of the stage and spoke, "Team fifteen passed! Absil from the Ashendal family and Shadow of the Strider family are now men in our city!" The crowd cheered for Absil. None of them would cheer for me. Absil approached me on stage,"Well at least we passed.I was no help what so ever." he said defeated. "If it wasn't for you, the ranger wouln't have defeated the baby Guillotine." I told him. Then everyone went quiet as someone came limping out of the woods." It was someone from Clover's team! I ran over to her and said, "what happened to you?Where's your team?" The girl barely had enough energy to respond. "They are at the.." she coughed up more blood."lake." she told me passing out.
