"OH, I LOVE THIS PLACE, AIDYNN!"
The hybrid smiles as the werewolf leads her into the restaurant called Rousseau's they've eaten at many times. "Yeah?"
"Mhm, the gumbo is...oh, God, so good." Hayley tells as she takes a stool while a woman smiles at them.
"You sound like you're gonna have an orgasm from just talkin' about it." She cackles. "Hey, Jane-Anne, Hayley's gumbo and her lemonade?"
"Comin' up! What's it gonna be today, Ms. Aidynn?"
The Parker had given up running, if the coven wanted her that badly they could hunt her down, but she isn't a defenseless child anymore. "Mhm, how about a vanilla Pepsi with a Po-boy sandwich. Extra pickles and shrimp, and add some fries on the side, please?"
"Yep!"
"Thanks." Aidynn tells, rubbing her red eyes. "I can feel you starin' at me, what?"
"You don't look so hot, you're pale, your hair is stiff, and you've been sleeping, like, sixteen hours at a time."
"Oh, that's sorta normal for me; I'm lazy as hell."
The Marshall holds back a chuckle as the waitress puts their drinks in front of them. "How are you?"
"Fine."
"And the herbs?"
"I haven't talked to him in a week, Hay Hay, and that's why I've been sleeping. If I'm sleepin' I can't be sad."
"Hey, I'm proud of you, Dynn! This is a huge thing, letting Kol go for your health."
"As he's tossed at me many times before, not like he's real."
"What?"
"Yeah...he's a figure of my mind, my subconscious, and I was holdin' some oddly placed worry down. I take different herbs now."
"Aidynn-"
"Don't worry, just a small bit of chamomile and lavender tea to help with my sadness and insomnia."
"Those work?"
"More than you'd think, yeah." Her eyes glassy from all the emotions she felt when giving Hayley the herbs earlier that week was a rollercoaster. She cried for hours and told Hayley to give it back, she didn't let up for days and now Aidynn feels better.
Her cough has lessened, her vision is back to normal, but not her magic. She knew the side effects of the herbs and was willing to risk her power at the time, but now she doesn't have them. She tries siphoning her necklace and Hayley, either worked, so she's just taking it easy while still searching for the ascendant while Hayley looks for the Crescent camp.
Aidynn took her to the spot they stayed when she was young but it was deserted, so they were taking a break and fueling up.
"Good, because I need you. I mean, you're the best friend I've had in a long time, Dynn."
The hybrid's heart warms and she smiles. "Ah, well, you're pretty great, too. I haven't hung out with someone like you in a long time, it's honestly refreshin'."
"Here you go, ladies! Gumbo and Po-boy with fries!"
"Thanks, Jane." They mutter.
"No issue, enjoy!"
Both the supernatural's dig into their delicious food. The Parker grabs hot sauce and lathers her fries in it alongside some ranch, which earned her an odd look from the werewolf which she picks up on. "What?"
"Nothing."
"Third time in here this week."
"I'm obsessed with the gumbo, Jane-Anne." The Marshall tells.
"The old ladies in the ninth ward say my sister Sophie bleeds a piece of her soul into every dish."
"I hope that's just an expression." Aidynn mumbles, she shoves the rest of her fries into her mouth.
"I asked around the Quarter about our family."
"And?"
"Nothing. Zero. Zilch. Nada." The Parker says and The Deveraux glances oddly at her.
"We can't find a single person who remembers them."
Jane-Anne leans in and whispers: "Because, Hayley, Aidynn, people like you were run outta here years ago."
They share a look before Hayley slowly asks: "What do you mean 'people like us'?"
Silently, she rounds the counter with a map, pointing with a pen. "In the bayou. We call the werewolves 'roux-ga-roux'. You head out there, you'll find what you're lookin' for." Hayley takes the map and Jane-Anne rests her hand on both the girl's shoulders. "Be careful, it's the last place you'd ever wanna go."
They nod and Hayley walks away. "Aidynn?"
"I'll be out, just need to use the bathroom." The hybrid steps away and a pricking feeling in her scalp makes her turn, finding nothing wrong she smiles.
"Ok."
"Just a minute." The Parker then walks into the restroom, uses it and washes her hands, and walks out. She goes towards the door when a man shoves into her. He has a bald head, almond skin, and is tall with three other guys laughing around him. "Hey, watch where you're going next time, dickwad." His eyes widen as she brushes past him and to her Mustang she lets Hayley drive. "Ok, ready."
"Let's get this show on the road!"
"Man, I should've snapped the dick's neck."
"Who?" Hayley giggles as she pulls down the road.
"Some man practically bulldozed into me and didn't apologize. Fuckin' cunt waffle." By the time they reached the locations, it was night. Aidynn scoffs at the scene: "Ok, I know I grew up in these woods, but I feel like Jason's gonna pop out."
"You're a hybrid, remember? I think you could take him. Ooh, I think this is it.""
"No, I don't wanna take him, Hay Hay." She hisses while Hayley takes the map just as it catches fire.
"What the..."
The wolf shifts the car into reverse when it sputters and stops. "Are you kidding me?!"
"Don't get out of this fuckin' car, Hayley. Something bad's gonna happen, I feel it." Aidynn shakes her head vigorously as Hayley ignores her and gets out of the car. "Idiot."
The hybrid jumps out of the car as the wolf dials a number. "Hey, I'm looking for a tow service...Ah!"
"Oh, Goddess, what is it?" Aidynn groans at the high pitch humming in her head, she snatches the phone and crushes it between her hands to make it stop. The brunette glances up to see many people moving towards them. "Oh, my Goddess, we're gonna be sacrificed by a cult."
"Shut up." Hayley tells her as she prepares to attack, when suddenly Aidynn slumps into her. "Aid-" The wolf goes down, both being cushioned by Sophie Devereaux.
