Shinji stepped into his apartment. A strong sense of dread had settled in on his hurry home.
He didn't want to face his father, he was honestly suprised he was even home.
"Shinji." His father was standing in the hall.
"Father..." Shinji looked to the wooded floor.
"Want to explain what you were doing out so long?" His father had a stern expression and voice.
"I was out w-with a friend..." Shinji stammered.
His father stared at him, he looked down his nose and directly at him, "A friend?"
Shinji nodded, "I-I lost track of time and... and that's why I was out for so long..."
"Let's not let this happen again." His father turned around and walked into the other room, "Now why don't you start dinner."
"Yes father..." Shinji slipped his shoes off.
There was no hint of worry, no love in the way Shinji's father acted around him. It was all disappointment and anger..
.
.Kaworu stood on the sidewalk a couple minutes before he began to make his way towards his own home.
He felt a slight fluttering in his stomach, he wasn't sure what he was feeling, but he knew he really enjoyed his time with his new friend and he also knew he thought Shinji was very cute..
.
.As Shinji laid on his bed, he stared up at his ceiling.
It suddenly hit him.
"I never asked for his number..."
He frowned, I suppose we won't be talking to eachother again then...
He wasn't quite sure why he was so upset, he'd only know Kaworu for a couple hours.
While letting his thoughts brew, he fell asleep.Shinji woke up that next morning, he felt a little groggy but stumbled out of bed anyways.
He slunked into the kitchen and got a glass of water. The house was quite, Shinji had remembered his father saying he'd be gone for a couple of days, so he'd be home alone.
He didn't like being home with his father, but in all honesty, he didn't like being alone in the house either. After spending sometime just waking up, he decided he didn't want to stay home.
He grabbed his tape recorder from his desk and put his headphones in.
He was headed to the park, it was only a couple minutes away so he often found himself there. He walked through the park entrance and was planning on walking around the trail, but someone caught his eye.
Standing by the swing set was a tall, silvery white haired boy. It was Kaworu.
Shinji stopped and stared for a moment. He wanted to go up to him, but he didn't want to be a bother so he ignored him and started walking the path. It wasn't like Kaworu had noticed him.
At least that's what he thought. He didn't hear Kaworu approaching from behind because of his music.
He flinched a little as he felt his earbud being tugged out.
He turned his head. He was face to face with Kaworu, he felt his face get hot, Kaworu's face was to close to his own.
"K-kaworu.. hey." Shinji stammered and stepped away.
"Hey, good morning." Kaworu stood up straight, he smiled.
"W-what are you doing here?" Shinji asked, his heart was beating fast, he had been spooked a little.
"I was hoping to see you.." Kaworu said, his expression was soft.
Shinji blushed a little, "W-why?"
"I had a nice time yesterday." Kaworu replied without hesitation.
"O-oh.." Shinji looked away, "How did you know.. that I'd be here?"
"I didn't." Kaworu smiled, "But it was my best bet. So I waited for you here."
"S-stupid..." Shinji started walking, "What if I hadn't of come."
Kaworu walked with him, "I would have come and waited tomorrow."
"That's r-ridiculous!" Shinji was in disbelief, but also happy.
"I suppose I wouldn't have to wait around if we exchanged numbers?" Kaworu said.
"Y-yeah.." Shinji stopped. He took his other earbud out and stopped his music.
He pulled his phone out, "H-here.."The two of them exchanged numbers and then began walking.
They chatted a little, but mostly walked in silence.
