Just as he'd told Shinji, Kaworu texted Shinji when he arrived home.

The next few days, they'd hung out for a couple hours and then would text eachother when they were home.
Shinji's father had returned home a couple days after Kaworu had spent the night, so the time they had to hang out was limited.

Shinji sat at the dining table and ate his lunch, he had plans to met Kaworu in an hour.
Summer break is almost over... I wonder if me and Kaworu will stay in touch..
There was a week left of summer break.
The thought of Kaworu having to leave and school starting back up, upset Shinji.

Shinji waited up at a cafe where he was gonna meet up with Kaworu at. He'd arrived a little early.
Minutes later, Kaworu arrived.
"Hey Shinji, were you waiting long?" He asked as he walked over to him.
"No." Shinji shook his head.
"That's good." Kaworu smiled.
"So did you want to go inside or?" Shinji asked quietly.
"Hmm.. not really, I only picked here as a met up spot cause it's near both our places." Kaworu stated.
"Alright." Shinji said, "So where do y-you want to go?"
"How about you?" Kaworu asked.
"M-me?" Shinji turned away from him.
Kaworu always seemed to want to go where every Shinji did, and never really had any plans besides hanging out. Which was a little odd to Shinji.
"I don't know.." Shinji shrugged.
"Shall we just walk then?" Kaworu suggested.
They tended to walk a lot as neither really knew where to go.
"Sure.." Shinji agreed.
He didn't mind that they didn't do much, he simply liked spending time with him.

As they walked around, Shinji suddenly stopped. He stared ahead of them.
Kaworu stopped too, "What is it?"
Kaworu looked from Shinji to what was in front of them.
Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Only other people walking around.
Shinji looked a little worried.
Kaworu turned to Shinji again, as he did, the redhead in front of them noticed Shinji.

"Well, if it isn't Shinji." She walked up to them, her hands on her hips.
Kaworu looked at her.
"H-hi..." Shinji avoided eye contact with her.
"You could be a little more enthusiastic. I'm gracing you with my presence after all." She flipped her hair off her shoulder.
"Sorry..." Shinji fumbled with his hands.
"Always apologizing like that, it's annoying." The girl huffed, "I don't know why I even talk to you."
Kaworu glared at her.
The girl looked at him, "Oh? Who's this?"
"I'm Nagisa Kaworu. Shinji's friend." Kaworu said, he sounded a little annoyed.
"Wow, you've gained a new friend? Did you beg him to stay?" She laughed.
Shinji bit his lip.
"You didn't deny it, so I guess I'm right." She spoke in a condescending manner.
"It was actually me who asked to be his friend." Kaworu scowled.
"What? Why would you want to be friends with him?" The girl asked.
"Do I need a reason?" Kaworu asked her a question in return.
She glared at him.
Shinji just stood there, he was uncomfortable.
"Well, if that's all," Kaworu started to walked past her, "Me and Shinji are gonna go."
He looked back at him.
Shinji looked up at Kaworu, then at the girl.
"You're gonna leave? What a wuss." The girl mocked.
Kaworu simply looked at Shinji, ignoring the girl.
Shinji hesitated before following Kaworu, "B-bye Asuka..." Shinji stammered.
She stood in disbelief and watched as they walked past her and down the sidewalk.

"Who was she?" Kaworu asked as they walked.
"She's my f-friend.. her names Asuka..." Shinji stammered.
"Friend?" Kaworu furrowed his brow, "Are all of your friends like that?"
"Of course not.." Shinji looked down as he walked.
"Good." Kaworu sighed in relief.
"She's just like that to everyone.." Shinji explained.
"She's not very pleasant." Kaworu said.
"I can't disagree with you on that..." Shinji quietly said.
Kaworu smiled a little.
I hope he's not lying about his other friends not being like her.

They walked a little longer.
"Oh, that's right. I nearly forgot." Kaworu looked down at Shinji.
"W-what?" Shinji looked at him to.
They made eye contact. They were both quiet for a few seconds.
Shinji turned away, his face was hot.
He has such pretty eyes...
Kaworu chuckled.
The silence continued for a moment.
"I'm going back to stay with my dad in 2 days." Kaworu said, he seemed down.
"W-what?!" Shinji looked at him once again.
"Yeah." Kaworu said, "I wanted to tell you in person when I was leaving instead of over the phone."
Shinji frowned, he looked away. He felt like crying a little bit.
"I'll text you everyday though." Kaworu reassured him, "We won't lose contact even after I move."
Shinji just nodded. He was worried.
What if he doesn't though... what if he leaves and forgets all about me...
