Chapter Ten: Shot!

The Hospital :)

Jackson~

"Hay!" I call out. He doesn't listen. "Hay," I call out again. He, again, doesn't listen. I can sense there is something wrong. I start to walk up to him but he still doesn't listen. Next, he falls down on the ground. I see his eyes closing.

There is a gun wound on his chest and he is bleeding. I try to stop it but can't. What is going on? I look around and see no one. I try to to use my sense and feel his presence. Wayne Cooke's presence. "I can feel it too," Triphena says.

His eyes closes and he is there, motionless. "Someone get an ambulance," Lachlan says. "No, they'll take their time. Get the car. We are taking him there," I say. Wait, how can I take him? Mom and dad will see me... Pushing those thoughts out of my head, I get the car. Lachlan is carrying Hayden and Ashley is running behind him. "No! You can't go. Your mom and dad-" I put my finger on her lips. "I don't care. But I will do anything to protect my little brother. Anything."

We drive to the hospital and even though, it is a five minute drive form Lachlan's house, it feels like hours. Lachlan is holding my little brother in the back seat and the blood is everywhere. Metaphorically and realistically. I can see hint of tears in his eyes but I don't say anything because tears are welling up in my eyes as well. We soon reach the hospital and we take him inside. "Please, get a doctor. He's my little brother and he fainted," I tell to the nurse. She nods and pages the doctor. "Nurse, bring him to the room." I try to follow the doctor but he tells me to stay. He tells me go to the reception and fill in the forms and pay the fees.

"What is your name, sir?"

I hesitate because I haven't said my name in two years. "Jackson Hutchinson."

"Relationship to the patient?"

"His brother."

"How old are you?"

"25."

She nods and tells me to sign the form and I do.

"Please, inform his parents as soon as possible and the fees is $50000 for the surgery." I nod and give her the money.

"Lachlan. Lachlan." I call to him. His eyes are red. He's been crying. "I know this is hard but-" Before I can finish it, he hugs me. "I can't bear this. I can't. I love him. I do, I really do. He can't die. He can't. I am suppose to be his protector and I wasn't able to do anything. Nothing," He says, crying. "I know. I know, you do. Please, stop crying. Call his mom and dad. I can't." He nods and gets his phone out. I don't know when I fall asleep but when I get up I can sense my family's presence. They are getting close and I stand up. "Lachlan. Listen to me. I am going to go now. And you have to cover up for me." I go outside without my parents noticing.

I can't tell them that I am alive. There is no way I will let them find out.

Lachlan~

I can't handle this pain. I can feel his pain. I don't know how and why. Maybe that's how it feels like to have a mate who is hurt.

I see Hayden's parents coming and Jackson leaves. "Oh my God! Our baby was shot." His mother says and hugs me. "Are you okay?" she asks. I nod. I thought she will blame me for all of this but she doesn't.

After an hour of waiting, the doctor comes out and tells us, "Well, he's a tough fighter, that one and lucky. The bullet missed him by an inch from heart. Just an inch. We will keep him in the ICU ward until he makes a full recovery."

"I'll go and pay for the medical fees at the reception," Hayden's dad say.

"Oh, it's already been paid by his brother. Er... Jackson Hutchinson."

"But, he's dead. He died two years ago."

"Well, he was alive two hours ago," the receptionist says. Oh shit. I forgot about Jackson. I sneak out and call Jackson.

"Hey, Jack. You have to come here."

"Why? What happened?"

"Your parents know that you're alive. You have to come here."

Long pause.

Pause.

Pause.

"Are you still on the line?"

"Yes, I am. I am on my way. Just wait."

And the line ends.

I sneak back in. "We need to talk," Che says, Hayden's sister. "Jackson made a deal with Ashley that his secret will always be safe." I nod. "Then why the hell is he back? I sensed him the moment I walked in this hospital. There is great disturbance in the wolf world. And unfortunately I am the only wolf in this world who can experience that. Connect to the spirits. Now where is he?"

"He is on his way. Liam might need your help by the way. He still isn't serious about being the beta of the pack."

"This is not the time to discuss about Liam. How will I handle mom and d..." she stops in mid sentence.

It is then Jackson walks in and the day just got worse for the Hutchinson's.
