Stay - Yang Jungwon 양 정원

"So like... we're all doing popping right?" I asked as we entered the practice room. We had about half an hour to stretch and "prepare" for the dance battle. I looked outside the window and saw Sungdeuk and Yoonjung watching us with amused smiles.

Jay laughed, "What? Do we all only know popping?"

Multiple boys let out small yeses as they stretched. "I mean... we don't necessarily have to win, we just have to impress them," I shrugged, making small popping moves.

Jungwon grinned at me, "So, Chae, you'll let me win?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.

"No," I said quickly, "Whatever the benefit is, I want to get it."

"Ah, okay, okay," Jungwon laughed, hugging me. "Sunoo hyung is definitely going to do this though," Jungwon said, tilting his neck around like how Sunoo did multiple times during the training camp.

"BTS Test's mini-mission, 'Dance Battle,'" Yoonjung announced, "I'll go over the details. One I-Lander first, on a first-come first-serve basis and the one-on-one dance-off will begin. The top three winners will get to choose which BTS song to perform and their team members." She turned to us after reading her cue cards, "So, who here feels confident in dancing?"

"I want to see Jungwon versus Chaeri," Sunghoon whispered to me. I gave him an amused smile. On the other side, I could see Jake whispering something to Jungwon, making them both look at me.

"It'll probably be better going first," Yoonjung suggested as no one stepped forward.

After a little bit hesitation, Jay stepped forward, choosing Niki as his opponent. The song were random hip-hop songs that fit the freestyle vibe, changing with every person. A couple more went after Jay and Niki.

When K and Geonu finished with their turns, leaving everyone oohing and aweing, Sungdeuk called for the fourth pair. I made eye contact with Jungwon. He raised his eyebrows at me, nodding at the empty floor. I only shrugged, knowing he was wondering if I was going to go forward.

"Chaeri? Jungwon? Is this a secret conversation?" Yoonjung asked, leaning forward.

Sungdeuk grinned, "Ah they're both good dancers," He added. Both Jungwon and I looked away.

"Oh come on guys, go! We all want to see this!" Jay insisted.

I smiled at Jungwon, "If he wants to," I said, nodding my head at Jungwon who held up his hands in surrender.

"The tension's high!" Jake laughed, pushing Jungwon's shoulders forward.

Yoonjung nodded, gesturing us forward, "You two. Just start dancing! Be confident!"

Jungwon and I both relented, stepping forward into the makeshift space. "Ladies go first," Jungwon said, gesturing for me to dance.

I smirked, "Ah, so you go first then?" I teased. I laughed at everyone's reactions. All the boys went crazy, teasing Jungwon who only gave me a sheepish smile. "Just go, Wonie, I'm kidding," I said, waving my hand.

The music started on cue. I nodded my head along with the music as Jungwon did his freestyle. It was actually really good. But no surprise there, Jungwon was one of the most confident ones in his freestyle. When the music ended, everyone including me clapped for Jungwon as he stepped back.

"Aye let's go, Chae!" Jake shouted.

Daniel hollered making me laugh, "Be cool, noona!"

I didn't start immediately when the music started, taking in the beat and rhythm. It didn't take long before my body started dancing on its own. I kept my head empty, only adding a couple of facial expressions here and there at certain beat drops. Playing into the confidence, I stepped closer and closer to Jungwon, making him back up out of the space. When the music finished, I was pretty much toe to toe with Jungwon with a small smirk.
