Annabeth Chase
After I came home from school today, Thalia forced me into some of her clothes. It was terrible. Not that I was complaining or anything, but I didn't like to be forced to do something, especially when it involved clothes, shopping or anything pink and sparkly. I mean I was perfectly fine in a shirt, jeans and Converse, but no, Thalia had to go along with the "plan" of hers that she wouldn't tell me anything about. Thalia and her plans... Who knows what was going on.
I looked around the room. Thalia's rock posters were still hanging on the wall, but a new one was added to the collection. The name of the band loomed over Thalia's bed as if the letters were going to eat her at night. I tried to convince her to not put me in one of her outfits, but she was just so stubborn. I never met anyone I couldn't convince with knowledge. I even tried by best puppy dog face. Nothing.
"You look good," Thalia said, as I pulled her black and white striped t-shirt over my head. I was wearing my jeans, sparkly white Toms and now this t-shirt without long sleeves.
"Thalia, no. I'll freeze!" I protested.
"I have a jacket," Thalia insisted, grabbing a little black bundle off her bed and throwing it with me. I caught it and laid it out on the bed. I looked back and forth between Thalia and the black clothing.
"Thalia, this is not a jacket," I told her. It was a vest with no more of a sleeve than the shirt. "It's a vest. That's just a fancy word for a jacket with no sleeves or coverage."
I put on the vest showing her my very bare arms. I looked out the window. The brick wall looked nice today. Frosted over, but nice. "See Thalia, even that wall over there is cold. And it's an intimate object. Oh I know, maybe I'll put this vest on it, and i'll be as warm as the sun," I said sarcastically.
Thalia rolled her eyes. "You'll be warm in his apartment anyways. He has blankets and lots of them, so you don't need to worry about keeping warm."
We were going to the movie night at Percy's house. It was just Percy, Jason, Thalia, Leo, Calypso, Jason and Piper. I didn't know Leo, Calypso or Piper that well, but they were probably nice because Thalia was their friend. Though I was pretty sure that Calypso was a cheerleader and she and Leo were dating. Leo was the machine guy who constantly drummed his fingers on the table and made really cool things out of paper. He was in my English class, so I knew. I knew the least about Piper. She was supposedly really pretty and was Jason's girlfriend.
"Uh huh," I said nodding. "Blankets. And why can't I wear a jacket again?"
"Because," Thalia said, "it's part of the plan. Please?"
"You know what? Fine. Only because you're my new sister."
I sat on my bed. I decided to keep the grey bedding. I liked the colour grey. I thought about what the movie night was going to be like. Probably cheesy movies and popcorn being thrown everywhere. I don't know.
"Thanks," she said. "Well, I'm going to go to the living room to get my bag. We have fifteen minutes to spare anyways."
"Sure," I sighed. I took the library book off my desk and started reading it. Greece had always interested me. The architecture there was exquisite. I've always wanted to go see the Parthenon in real life. The Internet couldn't compare to the actual thing. I wondered if Beryl would take me one day.
"Annabeth you were day dreaming," Thalia said, clapping her hands in front of my face. I shook my head as if to come back to the real world and focused on Thalia's concerned blue eyes.
"What?" I said. "I was reading."
"Uh huh, okay. I'll believe that," Thalia said nodding. Then she glared at me with her electric blue eyes. I guess that's what her death glare looked like. I was afraid I did something wrong, but then I remembered that this was Thalia we were talking about. She was just joking around. Then I gave her my death glare. I positioned my stormy grey eyes to look directly into hers and my lips turned into a straight line. My friends always told me that I was great at giving those. It scared of bullies and it helped me get out of things that I didn't want to do.
Thalia's lips curled into a grin. "That was supposed to scare you into telling me what you were thinking about. It works on everyone except for Percy, Jason and Nico. Pretty much everyone else totally freaks out and randomly tells me their secrets. You make a mean punch Annie. I didn't know you had this side. A glary side. Wait, is that even a word. Oh, it doesn't matter. What matters is what I like it."
"Thanks," I said, "just don't call me Annie."
"Deal," Thalia said. She slung her leather bag over her shoulder and gestured for me to come. "I don't want to be late. After all, this is your first movie night."
"Okay," I agreed as I walked out of the room. Thalia told me that she was going to tell Jason to hurry up and get his butt out of his room, her exact words, not mine, and to wait for her at the door. I wondered what movie we were all going to watch. Maybe something about Ancient Greece. Thalia smiled at me while dragging Jason by his hood.
"This doofus and I are ready," Thalia said. "Let's go."
