Kat POV
Today will be my first day. This school was a little odd. It was a small school system for sure. Luckily the high school and middle school were separated, though the elementary school consisted of pre-K through 5th. I would be teaching the art class in the high school. Not sure how I got this job. Both of my bachelors were in science, but I do like art so I can't complain too much.
I looked at the crowded halls as I walked down the hallway towards my classroom. I had decorated it a little when I was shown where it was the other day. Just small decorations here and there. I even added a small couch in one of the corners with a small table in front of it. Trever had to help me bring the couch in though, but I'm glad I was allowed to bring it in. I had gotten that small idea from my English teacher in my senior year, she was one of my favorite teachers.
I sat behind the desk and logged on to the monitor. I won't have a first period class so I could get some things prepared. I started walking around correcting a few things and setting other things out. Luckily the last art teacher had left the supplies here. I also was left a lesson plan. They seemed to have been given a project before she left so suddenly. I guess I'll let them finish that first and then change the lesson plan. I looked around at the empty room. I wonder what kind of kids will be in this class. I smiled and cringed at the thought, hopefully they aren't too bad.The kids aren't too bad. Some weren't the greatest but that's just how teenagers are. Though I will not be putting up with their shenanigans. I also made sure they would know that. At least for my morning classes, I still have to worry about the afternoon kids. There was one kid, she seemed hyper as all get out, but she wasn't a bad kid, she just needed something to keep her constantly occupied. She might have ADHD, but don't take my word for it. But she was really inspiring for sure, she introduced herself as Miko. She very obviously had her own sense of style.
"Ms. Carroll," speaking of the young girl, Miko, she called out for me from the door.
"Yes, Miko?," I answered, not looking away from my monitor.
"I left my sketchbook here, I think," Miko said. I stopped what had occupied me on my monitor and reached into my desk pulling out a decorated sketchbook.
"I'm guessing it's this one?," I asked, holding it out towards her. I had seen it on one of the desks as I was picking up the things that had been left out.
"Yes, that's the one!," Miko loudly proclaimed out of joy. I put a finger to my mouth in a hush manner.
"Sorry, but yes, that is my sketchbook," Miko answered more quietly this time. I smiled and handed her the sketchbook.
"Have a nice lunch," I say, as she leaves my room.
"You too, Ms. Carroll!," I hear Miko shout as she runs out the door. I sighed a little bit and turned back to my screen. I honestly don't know why this man wanted to reach out to me, but I honestly wanted little to nothing to do with him. Agent Fowler started contacting me again ever since I got fired from my previous job, and I didn't want to interact with him. I sighed once more and logged off of the monitor and made my way to the teacher lounge. Alyssia would yell at me if I didn't eat.
