first date

Next day at school, was like any other day; boring but still chaotic.
I was still not motivated at all.
I barely listened to that, what the teacher was saying.
Maybe a nap was the best thing to do, at a boring school day.
I rested my head on my arms and closed my eyes.
Suddenly someone threw something at my head, confused I blinked.
Then I noticed a paper ball on the floor next to me.
I picked it up and opened it.
There wasn't even a message in there.
I knew exactly that Kokichi was sitting behind me, in the last row at the window.
I turned my head but he was acting innocent, looking up to the ceiling, fake whistling.
Nevermind.

After school, I instantly walked home hungry, a long school day behind me. Didn't even had breakfast!

Suddenly I noticed someone going behind me and following me.

I turned around.
"Ah, it's you Gonta"
I looked up to my big classmate who stopped infront of me.
"Nyeh... why are you following me?"

The big boy seemed to be getting nervous.
"Himiko, Gonta want you to come with him him, please, right now!"

"What? Why?"
I yawned.
That was unusual somehow.

"Gonta can not answer that.
Please just follow him."

The insect lover, meant it seriously, huh?
"Give me a reason first."
I had no problem to follow him, but I wanted to know what happened.
Maybe it was something with insects and I really didn't felt like dealing with them. I had to admit, that I was scared of these things.
They somehow creeped me out.

"If Himiko-chan don't follow Gonta, he will carry her in his arms and take her with him."
With hesitation in his eyes, he stretched out his arms.
He's not joking!
I took a step back and waved my arms hysterically.
"Fine! Fine! I'll come with you, okay?"

Gonta smiled.
"Gonta is thankful!"

I smiled, then I noticed something.
"Err Gonta?
Can you carry me anyways?"

"Sure!"
Gonta picked me up and put me on his shoulders.
"Yaaay!"
I wrapped my arms around his neck.

We stopped at a coffee shop and Gonta put me down, looking at me with red cheeks.

"Gonta...?"

He swallowed.
"Gonta want to ask Himiko-chan out..! Right now!"

I blushed immediately.
"W-What?"
I was so taken by surprise.
"Ask...m-me out?"
I stammered.

"Yes, please go with Gonta on a date!"
His face was so serious, it almost sounded like an command rather than a request.
I paused for a moment.
No one had ever asked me out for a date before!
This was completely new.
Even though I had a strange feeling, why Gonta would do that, I nodded.
Gonta wasn't exactly my type, but we were good friends and getting a little closer wouldn't hurt, right?
"I guess it's okay, I have nothing to do anyway-"

Gonta let out a sigh of relief.
"Himiko need to know, that Gonta is really shy if it comes to things like this."
He smiled.
"I thought Himiko-chan would reject him."

I didn't answered.
Gonta opened the shop door and smiled.
"Ladies first."

I went in and we found a free table in the back of the shop.
We sat quietly down, an uncomfortable silence spreading.
I didn't dare to look into his face.
This was so weird.
Was it me?
Didn't we need something to talk about, to get to know each other better?
Doesn't the man take the first step? Maybe he was just too shy?
I looked up.
"So-"

But before I could say something, Gonta stood up.
"Gonta asks Himiko to excuse him, that is not really gentleman-like but i have to go!"
Without a reasonable explanation, Gonta turned his back on me and ran away.
