What would you give a person that has only recently played an important role in your life, someone you have only recently learned to like, even love?
A person as inconspicuous and questionable as Kokichi Ouma.
And this question was also asked by Himiko Yumeno.

It was Valentine's Day and my classmates - including me - were on their way to a nature property near a forest by a large pond.
Kaede and a few others thought this was a good idea.
A nice idea to spend a cool day together, and maybe it would be even more for one or the other.
The weather also played along, it was a sunny and beautiful, clear day.

I only knew that today was Valentine's Day and of course I had absolutely no idea how to deal with this knowledge.
That day hadn't played a major role in my life yet.
I had never received any gifts that day so it hadn't meant anything serious to me.

I had absolutely no present nor any idea, and now it was too late anyway!
Kokichi wouldn't give me anything anyway, would he?
someone like him?
That would be too cheesy.

Exhausted from the path through the nature, I staggered at the very back, behind the others.
How much longer did we have to walk?
And where did 𝘩𝘦 disappeared?
He had just been with me, before I got lost in my thoughts about Valentine's Day.

As if conjured up or - "if one spoke of the devil" - a hand grabbed my shoulder and I winced violently, so that I, overwhelmed by the shock, did not notice the stone in front of me and stumbled over it with a short outcry.

"Ouch!"
I hissed pain.
With clenched teeth I got myself into a sitting position and now looked at my slightly bleeding knee, quite pissed off.
It was a little scraped but not really bad.
It still hurt, but my anger eased the pain a little and distracted me.
"Wow thanks"
I murmured sarcastically, not without glaring at the purple-haired boy.

Kokichi just stood there and looked at me pityingly.
He probably didn't knew how to deal with this situation.

Some of my classmates stopped now and turned around curiously.

"Oh no!"
Tsumugi called in wonder from afar.

Of course, Tenko instantly ran to me, Angie followed her slowly.

"Are you okay Himiko!?" The Aikido master knelt in front of me and eyed my knee with concern.

"Yeah, it's fine, but now someone has to give me a piggy ride.."
I closed one eye, pretending to be seriously injured.

"Why? Your leg isn't broken or anything"
The cosplayer eyed me doubtfully.

"It's fine! I can carry Himiko if she can't walk!"
Gonta smiled broadly.

My face lit up as Gonta crouched down and picked me up to carry me.

Tenko gave Kokichi a reproachful look.
"That's your fault!"

"What? If I had tripped, nobody would care..!"
he exclaimed playfully with a desperate look on his face, to deviate from the topic.

I didn't heared more of their discussion because Gonta was carrying me right up front.
Having such a strong, big friend had its perks!
But I felt a little sorry for Kokichi, even though I was still pissed off.
It wasn't his intention for me to fall.
Did he felt guilty now?

A long, heavy sigh escaped my mouth.
I was sitting on a bench, all alone, watching ducks.
Infront of me, the surface of the pond was glittering in the sun.
Gonta said, I should rest here.
Tenko said; she would check on me soon.

And now, I had to listen to my classmates having fun in the background without me.
They played games, picnicked or did other activities, enjoying the nature and sun.
