The Light In The Shadow (Sonadow) (Book One - Complete!)

Chapter 1

"Is that all you've got, Eggman!" Sonic challenged his enemy. The others exchanged looks knowing this was either going to be an easy battle or it was going to get more complicated by the second. "NO! There you go, You have seriously forgotten who I am. My name isn’t Dr Eggman for any reason, it's because….Well?..". Sonic yawned, gaining the doctor's attention. "Try this you rat!" Eggman shouted as he pressed a button.

"For the last time! I am a hedgehog not a rat!" Sonic yelled at his enemy avoiding the rockets heading their way. He smiled as his group of friends easily avoided the rockets. However, his smile turned into a frown when a ray of light was heading the group's way followed by what looked like an indestructible robot. 

The light knocked everyone down to the ground. Many felt their life force draining away. "SONIC!" Tails yelled in pain when the robot grabbed the fox before throwing him at the echidna who stood up only to catch the poor fox. "Hey! Pick on someone your own size" the cry of a familiar pink hedgehog reached the ears of the hero. Amy swung her hammer, not expecting the rebound. She was quickly swatted away like the annoying fly she was. Sonic was slowly making his way to his feet just as the chaotix, Rouge and Omega had been knocked to the ground once again.

Quickly, Sonic spin dashed into the robot causing it to stumble. He heard the cheers of his name. The robot fell back onto his back when Sonic hit it again. He realised that it felt too easy and his statement was correct when the robot sat up before grabbing Sonic and throwing him high into the sky. Sonic panicked, he must have blacked out and now he was plummeting to the ground all of a sudden. Least he had a clear view of the battle. 

"No one hurts my Knuckles!" Rouge screamed out, while doing a tornado kick sending the robot back a few feet. Giving them all a chance to recover. Sonic knew this was the end of Sonic the Hedgehog. Oh how he wished he had eaten that chilli dog before battling Eggman. All of a sudden, he was plucked from the sky by a very familiar telekinesis hedgehog.

"Silver! Am I glad to see you here!" Sonic cried out before noticing Silver's partner. "Oh and nice to see you, Blaze". "The pleasures all mine Sonic but how about we get back to the battle at hand. Our friends look like they need some help". "Agreed". Silver nodded in agreement with Sonic, who was quickly released above the robot. Sonic made quick work through spin dashing into the robot but all that happened was he started to bounce off the robot. What in Mobius had Eggman created this time, Knuckles thought. The chaotix soon found themselves out-matched when two robots appeared by the side of the one robot. Oh great, Vector thought, there's more. 

The Chaotix, Amy and Tails worked together in taking down one robot while Blaze, Rouge and Knuckles fought against the other one. Leaving Silver and Sonic to deal with the last one. The teams soon learned every time they made contact with the robots, they found the plating of the armour would suddenly harden.

"Sonic! How do we beat them!" Amy cried out, using her hammer to trip the robot while she got Tails to safety. Espio soon found himself the only one left standing in his group. "Mwahaha!" Eggman laughed eagerly watching his opponent's demise. He couldn't wait to build the Egg Empire. Sadly he was so distracted he didn't see a bright white light shoot across the sky behind him and make a crater in the hill behind. 

Silver was running on fumes and soon found himself exhausted. He noticed Blaze was having the same problems and without warning Silver fell to the floor leaving Sonic to deal with the robot. Knuckles was faring quite well until he got distracted, Espio was lying on the floor and the robot he was fighting was about to stamp on his head. Knuckles quickly ran over and grabbed his friend before running to where the others were hiding behind some trees. "Espio, wake up. Don't you dare quit on me now. Mighty will kill me" Knuckles whispered down to the young Chameleon. The echidna found himself pulling the Chameleon closer to his chest as the two robots advanced on the vulnerable group. Which included Knuckles, Espio, Tails, Amy, Charmy, Vector, Rouge, Blaze and Silver. Basically everyone bar Sonic who was struggling.

"All robots take aim at the famous Blue Hedgehog!". The robots did just that, ignoring the exhausted group of creatures. "Any last words Sonic!" Dr Eggman shouted, ready for his rival's demise. Sonic stared at his enemy with a cheeky smile as he kneeled with three robots surrounding him. "Did I ever tell you Eggman is a silly name!" Sonic jokingly shouted before closing his eyes but not before catching the eyes of his friends. 

So this is how the great Sonic the hedgehog would go out by Dr Eggman's hands. The doctor rubbed his hands in glee as he ordered, "Robots take aim and fire in…"

"3…"

"...2…"

Knuckles held Espio tighter, listening to the shouts and screams of their friends around them shouting for their hero's name. Knuckles couldn't do anything, his own powers were the only thing keeping the unconscious Chameleon alive until more help arrived. 

"SONIKKU!" "SONIC!" Cries of his name carried all the way over to his ears. Sonic smiled to himself, if only he had the chaos emeralds.

".....1….." 

A rippling explosion occurred creating a loud bang almost louder than a sonic boom. Cries of loss could be heard across the battlefield. Dr Eggman laughed while waiting for the smoke to clear, his rival was finally gone. He could start the Egg Empire without them menacing mobians getting in his way.

The cloud of smoke quickly disappeared when Eggman turned his fans on but he didn't expect to see his rival still standing and three robots shredded in pieces around him.

The least he expected to see was one very furious angry looking Shadow the Hedgehog holding not one but seven chaos emeralds and he was glowing white not his usual gold. The ultimate life form had one look in his eyes, pure hatred. Dr Eggman made sure to quickly backpedal out of there, leaving Sonic and his friends to deal with the consequences.

Sonic looked up in shock, there standing in front of him was their missing teammate. Shadow the hedgehog was surrounded by the seven chaos emeralds and his glow had stopped. He looked back to his original self despite having some new scars on his face. The most recognisable was the one across his right eye and his eye was a little whiter. 

"SHADOW!"
