Looking down at the black and red hedgehog within the cryo-stasis tube. It had been a week and yet the hedgehog made no signs of waking, he didn’t even twitch. It was beginning to scare many of the freedom fighters, especially Sonic and Rouge. The bat couldn’t help but relive the same memory when she was sneaking around Dr Eggman’s ship and she stumbled across the ‘alive’ Shadow when they all thought he was gone after the ark incident, all those years ago.

Leaning down so she was right next to the glass besides Shadow’s head, “Wakey wakey grumpy. Rouge jumped back out of shock when crimson eyes opened unexpectedly and a panicked expression appeared on the hedgehog's face. The bat moved back when Shadow began to bang on the glass, her instincts snapped into action. “Shadow! Calm Down! Shadow!”. Her cries went unheard as Shadow pounded on the glass out of fear and panic. Rouge was suddenly aware of scientists running into the room, she felt relief but then she was blinded by a white light. Silver had appeared, shoving his way past the scientists. Shadow was on the verge of releasing a powerful chaos blast when the glass was suddenly opened and the hedgehog fell out of it. The camera’s in the room began to fizzle out and crash due to the raw chaos energy flowing around the room.

“Hey! Put it back in the tube!” One of the scientists demanded but he was met by a glare from a very famous hedgehog. Sonic had arrived. The cobalt hedgehog forced his way past the scientists and helped Silver calm down the grumpy hedgehog. Shadow was not happy and he looked ready to kill, Sonic pulled the almost murderous ebony hedgehog into his arms and proceeded to hide his eyes to prevent Shadow from a major panic attack that may have been heading their way.

“What is going on here!” The voice of none other than Commander Abraham Towers reached all of their ears. The three scientists looked at the three hedgehogs who remained stubbornly quiet. “Commander, Project Shadow left his containment too soon” the scientist bluntly said without hesitation. Abraham frowned slightly at his scientist's choice of words. While three mobians continued to glare at the scientist. A growl emitted from Shadow’s throat but it disappeared as Sonic ran his hand through the quills of the black and red hedgehog.

Abraham looked over at the mobians and sighed out-loud, he turned to his staff. “Shadow the hedgehog has a name and he is not our property. I suggest you apologise to the mobians before the three of you join me in my office. That is an order!” Abraham ordered sternly at the three scientists who nodded, accepting the terms. The commander watched as his three scientists were quick to apologise. Abraham almost laughed when Shadow failed to acknowledge them but it wasn’t like Abraham could blame the hedgehog, Shadow had a lot of trauma from his past and to be treated as a fellow mobian and not a science experiment by humans was still new to him. Sonic did enjoy the terrified faces on each of the scientist's faces when they asked for forgiveness, especially when Shadow twitched in Sonic’s grip slightly. Rouge smirked knowing her partner in crime was enjoying ignoring these humans with a passion. Silver remained impassive beside them but he did enjoy the faces as much as Sonic did.

No sooner did the commander and scientists leave, did Shadow move to turn around. Sonic looked down when his lover looked back up, crimson watery eyes met emerald concerned ones. “How are you doing, Shadz?” Sonic asked, readjusting his partner so he lay across his lap. Shadow shrugged, earning himself the ‘look’ of Sonic. The ebony hedgehog sent back a glare but with no heat. “Mr grumpy, you do know having vocal cords means you can speak?” Rouge clearly pointed out using her hands to emphasise her point. Shadow glared in her direction, “I’m not good, I thought I was back on the Ark” Shadow sadly admitted. In a way only Sonic could comfort, the cobalt hedgehog tightened his grip on his love and whispered words of encouragement and love into Shadow’s ears while the ultimate lifeform played with his own inhibitor rings. “Well be glad, you were rescued by none other than a famous bat!” Rouge jokes earning herself a rare smile from her partner in crime and chuckles from Silver and Sonic. “What does that make me?” Silver asked, gripping his chest jokingly. Rouge shrugged, “My sidekick!” she suggested which made the room burst out laughing with the exception of Shadow who just smiled. Soon the laughter died down and crimson eyes connected with golden eyes.
