Chapter 7

Tails whimpered into Sonic's embrace, Knuckles grabbed Rouge pulling her safely behind him as he, Vector and Mighty stood in front of everyone. No one saw the invisible chameleon standing directly behind the G.U.N commander ready to give orders.

Present…

“2…Take Aim!”

“Anyone got any last words, say it now!” Vector jokes. “I ate your pop-tart and blamed it on Knuckles,” Silver shouted as he held Blaze close. “It was me who wore Rouge’s nail varnish, I wanted to be like Shadow!” Tails yelled, prompting many to look over but everyone let it go since the sobs made many cry. 

“1…”

“Oh what a pity!” The commander said connecting eyes with all of them. He lifted his arm in action and went to speak, “Fi…”, something painful hit his head, he soon found himself on the floor while Espio flickered out of his invisibility. “ESPIO, WATCH OUT!”, the chameleon turned to see the ones he hadn’t managed to take out aim in his direction. Espio shook with fear turning green, “ESPIO!” Knuckles yelled, ready to run forward when a gun was pointed in his direction. 

Out of the corner of his eye, Espio spotted something and turned to everyone and shouted, “Get down!”. All mobians didn’t dare hesitate as the G.U.N. soldiers looked around confused. But soon it turned into a one-sided war, as bullets went flying and a dark being stepped into the room. The commander looked up when he heard the word “Fire” as a gun was placed against his forehead, looking up the commander met the eyes of one furious Shadow the Hedgehog. 

“Commander it's been a while” The cold dark tone made the commander whimper as Shadows head tilted, adding to the dark side of him. “Shadow!”. “I heard you paid Dr Eggman to get rid of me, seems like that failed. Who would have known if a dear ally of mine hadn’t worked it out. Now, I suggest you leave now with any remaining agents before I put a bullet into your skull!”. The commander nodded, whimpering as his remaining agents pulled him to his feet and out of the room, Shadow sighed looking down at his favourite pistol and the bodies in the room. 

A whimper to the right of him made him look up to see a range of faces of Sonic and his friends. Shadow sighed to himself. A gun cocked near his head, “I think not Shadow the Hedgehog, you are a disgrace to humanity, one of the worst creations to exist. We should have killed you when you were young, growing up in our labs. You are powerless and one single gun does not scare me. You may be a royal but you do not stand above me in command”. Shadow smiled to himself but not just any ordinary smile, a grin of pure evil. Sonic looked up, feeling the change in chaos energy, he shared a look with Silver, Knuckles and Blaze who all frowned at the hedgehog in front of them. 

“Shadow No!” The commander looked in the direction of the shout to see Sonic reach for his friend. Then it clicked, wait this wasn’t Shadow Hodge, this was the other dimensions Shadow in which Dr Eggman had reached out to him. To stop the Ultimate Lifeform, the commander thought. This Shadow still held power!, he was more useful to him alive. The commander chuckled prompting Sonic to look up confused. 

“We will meet again, Shadow. I hope you like explosions as I left you a parting gift, good luck saving everyone, I hope you said goodbye to your daughter”. The commander chuckled, dropping a flashbang and sprinthing off. Shadow grunted holding his ears since he was the closest. 

“Uh guys?!” All eyes turned to Ray who looked at the bomb across the room it counted down from 10,9,8,7,6…”

“Sonic! What do we do!” Tails cried out. Everyone shared last minute looks bar a certain hedgehog. Shadow thought about where his daughter, Amy, Nic and S were as well as counting everyone in the room in his head.
